You can get the traffic conditions color-coded on the freeways yes. It works through the bluetooth with my android phone, but iPhone I think needs to be connected to USB. It takes a few minutes to load, but it does show up, and if you need it more immediately you go to the list, click the nearest freeway to the one you want to check. Then on the half sized map you can zoom out and see more. When I am impatient I run it that way.

I also prefer the 2d map and like to zoom out to the max where you can still see each street. I noticed that the map uses fat streets and skinny streets instead of blue streets and white streets like my old nav had, so that has helps me get my bearings when before I just saw that all the streets were white.

If you read a little further in his post, he is aware of that and wants a faster, more direct option from the desktop.

Ah, missed that. Yeah, physically impossible on Base, and while potentially possible on Advance due to the cellular radio, I'm somewhat scared to see what the desktop app would look like given the other apps lol…

If Toyota open up sdk for developing apps within entune (apps within app :) that can read-write the entune data, someone would be able to write a simple app that pushes the address directly into the entune saved data. But that is too many ifs!. Looks like entune app does connect to toyota server for the first (and subsequent) authorization, may be they can do more things, but probably not their priority, also as you say what they have so far is subpar, so cant expect great things.

yeah you should definitely be able to click them lol
there's a saved destinations "app" but i have yet to figure out how to actually add them on the phone. maybe you have to connect to the car first?

You have to open bing app from entune, search the address and then hit save location. That will appear in the saved locations.

    Ah, thanks!
Side note: bing's POI search is absolutely useless. I'm not even sure why it's there, other than MS paying Toyota a good chunk of money.

Yeah, it is total crap, only thing it works is searching with exact address, if it is exact address why dont they just allow us to enter into the stored location :(

Bing shows only local restaurants etc, it is a horrible search app.

I have another question on the music player. I put all the MP3 on a 16gb USB organized by folders. When I plugged it to USB in PiP (basic), I realized that there is no browsing by folder. My problem is that not all songs have proper metadata. I was wondering what are the alternatives.

    Questions:
    1. Does basic pip supports mp3s on a DVD? If so, is there browsing by folders?
    2. Playlists: I read in one of the threads that suggested a tool to create one, but that was for windows, any suggestions for Mac?

DVD doesn't work, I tested it. mp3 cd will work and I believe you can browse by folders.

iTunes will do that for you. First make a new playlist in iTunes, put your music in there in the order you want, then on the left hand side where the playlists are listed, right click on the playlist (hold control and click for 1 button mouse), then click export. Choose the destination to save the playlist and the file type. I am not sure what file type the pip likes best. I would test m3u first, then maybe .txt, but the other thread you mentioned might say what file type is best.

Bluetootch question: How to make the entune address book show names by firstname? Right now, it shows up as lastname, firstname. Also, is there a way to filter the addressbook by lists?

I use HTC phone with android ICS 4.0.

Why are there so many restrictions on what can be done and what cannot be done while vehicle is moving, is it a toyota restriction to keep their driver safe or new laws that forces the auto makers restrict features?

Joyce, the Advanced PiP does show prices and other limitations (like paid or free parking) under the charging stations icons. You have to not be moving, or to have installed the Nav Override from Priuschat Shop, which fools the car into thinking you aren't moving.

When standing still, locate a charging station on the map, then finger-click on its symbol on the map. One screen of info will open. There will me a "more..." tag on the bottom right. If you are moving, this will be grayed out. if you are parked, and finger-push the "More" tag, the 2d info screen will give usually reliable details of whether the charging station is free, or how much it costs, ad other details about the parking, specific location etc.

    I hope this is helpful.

BTW - this description refers to Entune on the PiP Advanced car screen. Never really played enough yet with my Galaxy Android to see how that works via the phone, since I only use Entune when I'm in the car.

Do not get ME started either. Entune SUCKS! It's so bad that I've been trying to figure out a way to replace the head unit with a 2010 version that actually works. Here are my beefs:
    • Every time I start the car, my hardwired iPod is reset to play the first song alphabetically. When I select Browse, then Playlist, the system hangs for 3 minutes then comes back with a list of playlists. When I select a playlist, the system hangs for another 3-5 minutes, then comes back with a list of songs. 6 freaking minutes to get music off my iPod while I'm trying to drive.
    • Who ever thought of putting Traffic on a different page from Map? A rational person would think that the two go together and should be right next to each other on the same page.
    • And why can't I set up the car to link to my iPhone's PAN and bring up traffic automatically? It's an 8-step process for something that should be so simple. (Setup->Bluetooth->list known devices-> connect for data. Followed by Apps->next screen->Traffic. Followed by previous screen->Map)
    • And why did Toyota drop hard buttons which are easy to locate by feel and press while you are trying to keep your eyes on the road?

that's definitely not the case. you have to go into advanced settings (I believe) and turn off all data warnings and enable PAN/DUN connections, and it will connect automatically. works for me without a hitch on my iPhone 4S.

Have you updated your iPods software? I have 3 iPods and have used each them for a few days at a time and it ALWAYS begins exactly where I left it. And it never takes 6 minutes for me to load a playlist, not even 6 seconds.
