Map app on 2012 Prius with display audio nav.

Hi everyone,

My first post here. I got a 2012 Prius on Halloween . I switched from 2010 Highlander SE to Prius and so far I am happy with the car. Last two days, my map app is sort of stuck on a blue screen. I tried changing from 2D to 3D and some other settings, but nothing fixed it. What are my options here to fix the maps? I know I can take it back to the dealership, but if it is a quick fix, I rather avoid that hassle. Thanks In Advance!

 

So apparently, it is showing blue screen because it thinks that I am in IN. I realized it when I entered a Chicago address this afternoon and it kept showing me in IN. I was going only a few miles and it kept telling me that I was 48 miles away. Entune is way shittier than I thought. If I didn't have my iPhone on me I would be in trouble this afternoon. Yes, Apple map saved my nice person from entune; it sucks that much. I am not happy with all the extra money they charged me for it.

Any way to reset map before I take it to the dealership?

 

Really? I was under the impression that with 2012 map is just an app in entune with some sort of internal storage. I will take it back to the dealership. Hopefully, that is just a one time thing and I don't have to keep taking it back to my dealership every few days for something.

 

I called the dealership and they said bring it in, no appointment needed. On my home, I put navigation on and, guess what, it is now showing correct GPS location.

I also noticed that night mode in map is so bad that I was unable to see anything. Luckily, setting it to day mode fixes that issue.

 

Things I love so far:
1. MPG - Coming from AWD Highlander, it just blows my mind.
2. iPod/iPhone integration. Love USB port.
3. Bluetooth integration for hands free calls.
4. Interior room - I don't feel like I am driving a small car.
5. Keyless entry - I carry no keys with me anymore.
6. HD radio - lots of additional channels and better audio signal.
7. Rear camera - I also had it in my Highlander. Makes parallel parking so much easier.
8. I like how buttons on doors are illuminated in complete dark. I didn't have that in my Highlander.

Things I don't like so much:
1. Entune - I was trying to find a movie and it was so dog slow that I ended up using my iPhone for that.
2. Maps - the garmin nuvi I was using in my highlander was much better than maps in my Prius.
3. Audio system - regretting not getting the JBL audio system. The basic audio system in my highlander was much better in comparison.
4. I hate how nothing on the hood is visible from driver seat. I am always worried that I will hit curb in front and scratch my shiny new Prius.
5. Display screen for entune - it sucks: low resolution and low contrast.
6. Sunglass compartment is too tiny.
7. I hate how most display features are disabled when car is in motion. I know it's a safety feature, but it is darn annoying.

All in all, I like it so far.

 

MandyTee - It is so funny. I just realized I have the exact same car as yours: same color, same year, and the same model. I too am in the Chicago-land area.

 

Yeah, but the cable for GPS will be on my lap/legs. no? The cleanliness of in-dash GPS is why I paid extra money for III. I guess, I will just have to get used to it and use Apple map on my iPhone as a backup.

 

Built-in map is off sync again. This time it shows me ~ 5 miles off. What a POS. I think every time I park downtown Chicago in a parking garage, it loses its coordinates. There doesn't seem to be an option to sync/fix coordinates manually.

 

Son of a gun. After 4 days of wandering around, my map finally found its correct location. I took it to my dealership this morning and they found nothing obvious with it. They told me they would call Toyota on Monday to gather more info on this problem. It could be that my roof antenna is bad. I guess I have to park in down town again and take it to dealership when it is broken again.

Not something I expected from Toyota. I should have gone for Prius II and saved my money.

 

How do you know if you have 6.1 or 7.1?
