I went to the dealership today with my '05 displaying a master light ( big red triangle) and "problem " posted on the screen with the green "hybrid system problem" box displaying. The Prius guy had the car plugged into the computer for over 3 hours. It spat out a page and a half of codes, and then after a time distilled the codes to 4 things: a bad hybrid fan motor, the relay, a blower motor controller, and a bad aux battery. The problem is I replaced the aux battery a year ago. So it makes me doubt the entire diagnosis. Not only that but the entire repair is not covered by the hybrid warranty and will cost me $1550. Please, Prius people, I need some feedback here. Thanks.
Location? Which dealer? Can you list the codes? What's your 12 volt voltage? Run the test at Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery | PriusChat after the car has sat overnight or MANY hours.
The car runs perfect. I have green bars on the charging screen. The only DTC I know now is: p0A84 which is: hybrid fan motor circuit low. Tomorrow when I get the printout I'll know the Toyota parts numbers, and I'll get a complete list of the codes. But it just doesn't sound right to me. Also, the cruise control works sometimes, and not others. That wasn't picked up on the scan. I know this sounds scattered, but for the first time in 7 years with this car, I feel at a loss. I am thinking of going to my original dealership, and asking if he'll do the job for less.
I would sure read cwerda's link and test the 12 volt battery first thing some morning, before I blew $1550 because the 12 volt battery had low voltage. Optima DS46B24R Optima battery direct fit replacement for Prius 2004 + with Instructions
Maybe the battery fan is clogged? There are many posts about cleaning the fan. I would also check this before letting them start swapping things out. HV Battery Fan doesn't turn on | PriusChat
