I carry lumber in my car and would like to turn off the open door buzzer as it drives me crazy when the back hatch is open for a long time. I have a scan gauge, can I use that some how to disable the buzzer? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm worry this option could not be switched off. I didn't see that option in Toyota Techstream service application. The old school toggle on-off switch can help.

What I do when I need to leave the hatch open for an extended time is to flip the latch closed using a hook-shaped tool. This turns off the switch in the latch so the Body ECU thinks the hatch is closed.
I also place a heavy folded up towel over the hatch latch in case I forget and slam the hatch closed.
To actually close the hatch, I have to remember to release the hatch latch first.

On my previous car I installed an interrupt switch in one of the switch blanks on the dash. It was a small LED push button. I had it so it would only interrupt the driver door but it can be wired to interrupt all the door switches by the common ground source. My Suburban had this feature from the factory and I loved it.

    1) open hatch
    2) using plastic bungee hook, push into latch mechanism
    3) use bungee to hold hatch down
    4) press hatch open switch to release when finished.
--there is a reason for this buzzer. Animals or children could fall out of the car if driver is unaware door isn't properly closed. Or an object could fall out, not only to be destroyed or lost, but could cause an accident.
-->Confucius says, "engage brain before opening mouth". Or disabling appropriate safety features with a destructive, complicated work around. Similarly, an open door can be temporarily silenced with a piece of heavy tape over the black switch in the door post.

Okay but what if you've been in a car accident where someone rear-ended you and you can't actually open the hatch but the car doesn't realize that the hatch is stuck in the closed position it thinks the hatch is open how do you stop the beeping then!!!???

Well, I was hoping there might be a fuse you could pull, but I don't find anything helpful in my manual.

Can you fold down the seats and get back there to access the wires and connector from inside?
