How does one tell that springs have worn out? I hesitate to ask any of the friendly neighborhood rapacious dealer service advisers...
Find a specific reference point at each corner of the body, and measure the height of the body at those points, above the ground. If you see a big difference from left to right or if you see that the rear is sagging compared to the front (or vice versa) then you have a clue that the springs are worn. Usually this is not an issue until the odometer is well into six-digits unless the car has been abused carrying heavy loads in the hatch.
