I know they have the Prius Plus package. I am considering that... What other options are there for enhancing the look of a Prius?
Waddaya mean? The Prius already looks like a spaceship, and I can't imagine anything cooler than that.
Cheapest way to make it look cooler than its current geeky look is get some 20% tints in the back and 35% in the front (for legal reason, don't go below that in MD). Secondly, put LED for the toyota emblem i'm doing that now. Thirdly, Daylight running LEDs Fourthly, shark fin antenna Fourthly 1/2, get bigger wheels! (How much bigger can a 2010 Prius take, I need an expert to answer this). Fifthly, Prius Plus Sixthly, solar roof package They are listed in order of low to high cost $, time and cooliness.
Some So Cal folks are really modding. The post at SO CAL : September Meet : Dim Sum / Irvine (SUN) 09-30-12 | Page 4 | PriusChat has some pics of modded Priuses. You could also do something like Starfleet Command. He's won a bunch of awards, such as one he mentioned at Prius wins Best of Show | PriusChat.
Lowering springs and 17" wheels will do it. Tint is nice as well. Spend some time in the modifications forum, particularly the GenIII Wheel thread!
Can you be more specific? I'm looking at getting new tires and maybe new wheels to go with the new tires once my stock ones require replacement. Whats the specs for 17" wheels that will fit with the Prius without any additional cost of spring replacement? I know currently the wheels are 195/65-15 on mine definitely need an upgrade, but will wait til the stock ones are ready to go.
Without lowering? 17x7" wheel with a +42 to +48mm offset, 5x100 bolt pattern 205/50/17 tire (Bridgestone EP422, Bridgestone Serenity Plus, Continental PureContact, Goodyear ComforTread)
You can buy all the parts and put it on any trim level you want. You can go the aftermarket route too. It just depends if you want to roll the package into the financing or not.
Had one the gas station pump boys call my car a "bad nice person Prius". Mainly due to my trashing the trashy plastic hubcaps and just going with the OEM black alloy wheels. The black solar roof adds to the affect. That's a cheap "cool" if you equate "bad nice person" with "cool". Also added the legal tint to windows which is good for keeping it cooler and adds to the "bad nice person" aspect...with the caveat that "bad nice person" is a relative term...it's still a Prius.
Keep it totally stock and don't tint the windows. Haven't got a ticket in 4 years, got out of a one for illegal left turn thanks to a very kind-hearted police officer. Nothing looks cooler than pulling away from a routine traffic stop without a ticket.
40mm will work. I just suggest 42-48 because it keeps the wheel tucked in the wheel well as much as possible which is better for aerodynamics and reduces the amount of debris kicked up onto the sides of the car. At 7" in width even 38mm works. Beyond that it just starts to look lame IMO.
