I haven't been on the forum in awhile so apologies if this has been discussed before, everyone. Just thought it would be fun to discuss. Who else has another car besides their Prius? Currently I also own a 1999 WS.6 Trans Am and upon return from my next deployment I'm buying a 2009-2011 Nissan GTR. Only catch is my GF wants a ring before I can buy the car; anyone else feel that's a pretty fair trade? lol
I'm currently in the process of purchasing a house and told my wife as soon as our condo sells, I'm buying a 3rd car. I haven't decided what it will be quite yet, but either a 1991-1993 BMW 3 series convertible with a 5 speed or something with a V8, manual and drop top (mustang, camaro, trans am). I wish I wasn't so tall, I'd get a S2K and call it a day.
I've given up sports and luxury cars for now. Hence, the Honda Ridgeline that now shares the garage with the Prius.
The Prius is my main vehicle although I do have a Yamaha V-Star. Haha look at it this way, both the car and the girl can last a lifetime with proper care, love, and the occasional ride (okay more than occasional). Although I'm going to be a sap and say a good wife will always trump any car. But I'm just a sheepish romantic.
I completely agree with you.. but I'm hoping I can get her to do a few HOD (Hooked On Driving) track days so she can really enjoy the car as much as I will
Not sure what your question is... wow on a GT-R. Although the car is a good value for the level of performance, the maintenance costs I hear are killer, almost into exotic territory (2009 Nissan GT-R: Bargain Supercar Gets Expensive). The service advisor I used to see at Falore Nissan in Sunnyvale told me about how crazy expensive parts like brake pads were on the GT-R. I used to have an 04 Nissan 350Z (from late 03 until mid 2011). I got my Prius in late January 06. I did have an 02 Nissan Maxima (bought in late 01) and had that until the Prius replaced it.
Besides the two Prius in my family, I also drive a 2003 Toyota Tacoma I purchased new in 2002. As a homeowner, having this p/u has greatly helped me with going to Home Depot and driving in heavy snow with it's 4wd. With only 62,000 miles, it is just broken in. The only thing I don't like is 20 mpg on a 4 cyl which accounts for the low miles. I just drive it when I need the attributes of a 4wd pickup.
Besides the 2 Prius' I still have my '01 Satty L wagon that I use for hauling my big model airplanes and home improvement "stuff" on weekends.
I was just being curious if anyone else was like me that has a "fun" car besides the prius. I love my prius to death, but every once and a while I just need to get behind the wheel of my Trans Am even though it only gets 8 MPG city due to mods, lol. As for the GT-R getting expensive when it comes to maintenance.. Of course it does, it's a bargain "supercar" so it just comes with that territory, cheapest full exhaust I found was in the $6,000 range. Not gonna stop me from beating it to death on track days once I have the upgraded cooling systems and whatnot installed. Whats the point of spending that kinda money on a car if your not willing to use it for the intended purpose it was built for, hence the prius, bought it for MPG and it does exactly that.
My Tacoma is my "mule" , my Prius is my "fun" car. You may find this odd but different strokes for different folks.
Hardly, I probably have as much fun driving around the Prius as I do my other car. Each has its own "fun" factor.
Not the same level of fun as a GTR.. but I still have my 2005 Infiniti G35.. still need to strip the parts and sell the car. But until I do, its my "fun" car. But I've also been working on (well, on and off.. mostly off) my 87 Mazda RX7 Turbo.. that car will eventually be fun.
I have 2 summer cars and a SUV for daily and winter use. My Prius is for summer pleasure use only. My wife has two summer cars and one winter car. We do not share our cars. She drives her own and I drive mine Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
It's a good thing there was a logo on that! I was trying to figure out if it was pedal-powered or if it was powered by a motor. That looks pretty awesome by the way. Thanks for helping to save the planet!
Okay, so my mind lives permanently in the gutter, but it makes me think 'Pole Power' which is either a play on words about you being a male (and hence possess a 'pole') OR you're a male stripper and then that's a double entendre as in you have a pole, and dance on a pole? I'm probably wildly wrong in my assessment either way. Just know I'm kidding I'm sure there's a perfectly innocent explanation for POLPWR EDIT: OR I'M COMPLETELY DUMB AND IT SAYS PDLPOWER NOT POLPWR LOL
C6 Corvette with an Edelbrock supercharger being installed. Tuning and dyno runs should be done this Saturday. The Prius is my daily driver and fun to drive in it's own way.
The DeLorean is my "fun to be seen in" car. Lexus RX is the powerful car. Tacoma is the workhorse that sits parked 99% of the time. Prius is the daily driver. Had a BMW '89 325xi 2dr and it was a blast with the AWD. But that vintage beamer wasn't quality made and it showed so got rid of it. Next car will be a Tesla Roadster or Nissan Leaf. If the leaf, then the next next will be a Tesla Roadster.
