    Greetings.
It's been a while since I have posted, 2004 Prius working well until....
Someone told me the tail lights are out.
Drove all the way home with the hazard lights.
In the morning, the following things did not work:
    Dashboard, turn signals,
tail lights, drivers window, backup lights and beeper.

It sounds alot like another thread I saw about the
Combination Meter, but I have no trouble turning
the car on and off. The headlight indicator even comes on.

    The earliest appointment my local Toyota dealer has is Wed;
I am still looking if there is anouther Toyota repair facility.

Does anyone have suggestions to help narrow it down?

(OR AT LEST TO HELP CLOSE THE WINDOW.
I can't park the car on the street :)

    Thanks
    Seth

(What I mean is, I had a working dashboard while driving home, but in the morning, it was worse.)

This issue has nothing to do with the combination meter.

    Driver's window - check the following fuses: 15A DOME, 7.5A ACC, 7.5A ECU-IG, 30A PWR, 10A GAUGE, 20A FR DOOR

    Tailights - check the following fuses: 10A GAUGE, 15A DOME, 15A AM2, 7.5A PANEL, 10A TAIL, 7.5A ECU-IG

Note that some fuses on the two lists are redundant i.e., DOME, GAUGE and ECU-IG. Those are the first to check.

    Thanks for the leads.
I will run the tests and prep for a possible battery replacement.
It is not original, but it may be due for a change....
I bought a 2004 in Dec 2007 and replaced the battery about a year later.

Update - I ran the tests and the battery failed -
    12.3, 11.8, 14,1

Thank you very much.,especially cwerdna - first correct answer :)

It is possible that your car needs a new 12V battery, but a failed battery would not cause a situation where some simple systems work while others do not, i.e., if certain exterior lights work while others do not, or if some power windows work while the driver's window does not.

Thank you Patrick...still trying. I bought an Optima today and have almost completed the conversion to it. The Battery test procedure shows good numbers now....but lots of things still not working.

The diagnostic screen showed when I turned on the TAIL lights, but they did not actually come on. or the backup lights or drivers window. I have an appointment with Toyota in the morning, but I have to put the battery compartment back together first.

Oh! Your numbers of 12.3, 11.8, 14,1 from the MFD aren't necessarily THAT bad. If one charged up the 12 volt fully and it could hold the charge, it might be ok.

Thanks to all who contributed. The gauge fuse was indeed the cause.
I didn't mention earlier, my regular mechanic had looked into this issue
without success. I guess he doesn't follow Priuschat :)
