What would doubling the EV range be worth in a new PIP?

The Volt is also a smaller car than the Prius, smaller trunk, seats only 4, gets much worse MPG when running on gas.

    I voted $2500.

I am guessing a double in battery size in the Toyota would be only around 100 lbs. I think the Leaf's battery is about 650 lbs for 24 kWh.
So I guess you're paying around $.30/kWh, which is absolutely daylight robbery, but you gotta pay to play in CA apparently. My Leaf is costing me about $.035/mile, after accounting for the energy lost charging it. This is equivalent to $1.50/gallon gas driving a Prius on 87.

An obvious problem with the PiP is it has no room for a larger battery, it's that simple. Perhaps a little finagling, but it's already lost that compartment that the normal 3rd gen Prius has, so more battery requires additional loss of interior space.
International arrest warrant should be issued for anybody trying to get $50k for a PiP, that is crazy.
Also the federal tax credit. The Leaf I got priced out after federal credit with a final sales price about $26,500.

Ford's solution was to abandon the flat cargo floor by stacking the pack. It will be interesting to find out how people react to that.
