Hey everyone! My Ford Focus got totaled last week while it was innocently parked on a busy street in Los Angeles. An older lady hit the accelerator instead of the gas, punched it into my car, and flipped my Focus on its side. Needless to say, I am in the market for a new car. My budget is about $12000 max. I am trying to find a used Prius as close to the 80,000-95,000 mile range as possible. I, like many other newbies, am terrified of the all mysterious hybrid battery. Any of these look like a good bet? black prius 2006 80700 miles $11750 http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=90066&endYear=2013&modelCode1=PRIUS&showcaseOwnerId=562602&startYear=1981&makeCode1=TOYOTA&transmissionCode=AUT&maxMileage=100000&searchRadius=50&maxPrice=12000&listingId=331314651&Log=0 2008 gold prius 90000 miles $11990 Must See 2008 Toyota Prius 2005 prius gold $11488 89317 miles Used Toyota Prius For Sale Los Angeles, CA - CarGurus 2006 $11500 green 95000 miles Cars for Sale: 2006 Toyota Prius in Valencia, CA 91354: Hatchback Details - 330884187 - AutoTrader.com Will I automatically be covered under the CA battery warranty I keep reading about? You should make sure the car was purchased, registered and operated in CA (or CARB emission states) to be eligible for the 10 year/150K mile HV battery warranty.
Its hard for us to give you advice when we're not actually there but to me, the 08 looks like the best deal. The CA warranty will cover the hybrid battery so, don't be terrified.
I like the '08 best since it is newer, the batteries have less age. My second choice would be the '06.
Why are you looking at such high mile Pri? You'd be much better off with one of these, even if you had it shipped...lol: 2005 TOYOTA PRIUS 2008 Toyota Prius 2006 Toyota Prius 77kMiles Sorry I live in Metro Detroit and Pri's seem to sell for a lot less than some other places.
Only if the car was originally sold in CA, was continuously licensed in that state, and has a clean title. It is possible that a used car was originally sold in another state, so I suggest you do a Carfax search to verify the title after you have found a likely prospect.
Just searched local CL. This came up, says clean title, may be worth a look. 2005 Toyota Prius Touring Package 6 - Leather Interior - Navigation
i also had an 08, daughter has it now. good year, great car. be aware there are some very expesive items that were only covered under 3/36. while rare that they don't last 150,000 and more, if they do go, it gets expensive.
Molly, register the VINs at Toyota Owners Official Website: Service Coupons, Owners Manuals, Service Scheduling and More to see the dealer service history. Also look for the booklets for the model years that you are considering so the option package can be identified. There's a big difference between the high and low ends.
That 2008 with only 41K on it looks really good. (Actually I'm not crazy about the color, but you know what I mean.) I've had my '08, which I bought used, for three years and it still runs like a new car.
If any of you are seriously about buying one of them, I can go look at it for you. They are all in relatively close proximity to my residence.
Agree with usnavystgc. Newer battery over newer engine. The 08 with 41k looks like the best of the lot here.

Thanks so much in advance for your help! Molly [/quote] !st sorry to read about your accident. *************Hi ...889: Let me share w /u my recent experience: I spent 2+ mos. reading this PC URL soaking up as much knowledge as I could--even tho i was already sold on the PRIUS having rented 3 during vacations. During this same time, I spent HOURS & HOURS searching the online sales-mags looking @ every GEN II Prii I could find. I chose AGAINST an unknown Pvt. seller--NO WARRENTTEE<?> & besides I did NOT want to spend $150+ to have a mechanic 'look it over." The fewer the pics of a car online= I took as something was being hidden from view. The MORE, hey that's a positive. I checked as many as 150+ carfax(S) & looked for every detail of maintenance. Even going as far as comparing the registered COLOR of CAR to the actual car in the pics. I found 2 that did NOT match ! Ah-hah. So I went w/ dealers: found 1's that charged NO Dealer Fees ($699. & up) & no hidden trans charges etc. 1 dealer I had spoken w/ for over 2 mos. went from $15,300 to $17,000 ON AN '08 W/52k. i said NO WAY but call me after you dinner-we can talk more afteri think on it. He never called. I went back online (July 23rd) found this highly regarded dealership some 70+ miles north w pics of a 2007 w 59K super clean detailed carfax- Told my wife even tho it's your birthday-we're getting a PRIUS look-see. This is a 2007; w/ the works-so I said a little prayer, took it for a ride & fell in love. Pd. $14.900+Tx+Title & they even gave me a 30-day Warr ! I did not buy any extra extended ANYTHINGS & i have not looked back in regret I just look @ all the gas stations changing prices & thank the Lord (ps St Jude too) I finally got my DREAM-MACHINE. So I took a look at that 2008-looks good & w/ a limited warr- heyyyyyyyyyy if you snooze you may lose.....try for a 60-day as well as ck all the fluids etc.. NOTE: Yesterday I changed BOTH engine & cabin filters in less than 20 (slow) minutes !! Cost=$18.50 for BOTH (see my note on changing cabin filters here). PRIUS CHAT is great for help. I just hope in my giving you my 2 cents i was helpfull. I've got between 48+ to even 63MPG w/ pulse & glide and this is with a 2007 that passes for a 2009 ! LOL All GenII seem to look a like to me & my 4-eyes. all i know I LOVE MY PRIUS. If I win the Lotto, I'll buy 2 more along w/ a small house w/ the gas $$ i save. Good Luck, DJ
PS-Don't be afraid to venture out of your area (comfort zone) as well as making sure your choice was originally registered in Ca like my friend said above. I took a 175mi round trip -well it was also near my Dad's VA hospital- and I came out a WINNER. I got my tint done there for $165-all windows & they had a shuttle to take me to visit Dad too. I really wish u LUCK.
