I roll down a steep hill into town and I will pick up 0.8 miles of EV.

I absolutely agree that lack of a MAP button on the steering wheel is an unfortunate step backwards. Reverting to MAP on the NAV / Radio / Kitchen Sink display in a split second when you really need it to make a decision is a basic function of the NAV system, and Toyota had it better designed on the older versions.

I'll have to try the MAP voice command - never thought of it. Thanks for the tip.

afaik when you're in map mode, and certainly when you're in navigation mode, hitting APPS will get you right to the map

Loss of voice commands, yes! I especially miss (from my 2005) "Suspend Guidance" to stifle route guidance. You can do it but it takes three button pushes and eyes off the road.

Please tell me how. So far, all I have figured out is how to turn off the sound or how to stop navigation by touching Dest and the second item on the list. I really miss the Suspend Navigation on my 2004.

No, he is wrong. Every time that I return home, I recharge. I am into almost 2 months of driving, one full month at 190 mpg, am down to 145 mpg this month. The PIP is almost perfect for my short 3-4miles trips, I average about 25 miles a day. Am interested to see what happens when the Boston weather kicks in.

I agree that they couldhave programmed the presets better.

I miss 'suspend navigation' and 'go home' buttons or quick keys.

the next-best i've been able to get is to say "Show Map" and then two button presses. It is kind of ridiculous that you have to distract yourself that much to get the damn thing to shut up.

I just got my first 2012 plug in. Also have it about three days. Trying to read all the manuals and make some sense of it all. I use an extension cord to charge. Make sure it is at least a 12/3 cord. No higher, but be lower. The book says it is a 12 amp charge, a 12/3 cord is rated at 15 amps, so no trouble there. The nav has a one button go home feature. I can't seem to get the bluetooth to work yet but I am trying. I am still on the first tank gas,280 miles. I am retired so there is no daily trip to work. Just found this site and I like it. Did not realise that there was no spare tire until yesterday when I went looking for one. Don't know if this is an issue or not. I read somewhere that here on LI NY it costs about .20 an a/h to charge. Much less than a gallon of gas. I will continue to follow this web site.

Congratulations on the car, but forget about the charging at work. You'd be charging at whatever daytime rate they're paying and that'd be expensive and quite possibly more expensive than running on gas. Unless they have solar panels generating excess electricity, I'd suggest focusing on getting the college to install as much solar as possible in the hope that one day they'll have cheap excess.
    ;-)

It's shame you that an Energi or Volt couldn't work for you.
