Well, I traded in my 09 aveo 5 HB for a Prius C last weekend! Even with careful driving (60% city), it was tough to get over 30MPG on the Aveo.... I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to get 62MPG (with room for improvement) with the C on my way to work today! My first Toyota and the dealer was pleasant to work with - not pushy on the add-ons which I did not purchase. I also test drove the Chevy Sonic HB and Cruz, Hyundai Accent HB, Kia Rio 5 HB and Ford Focus. The Focus was the best of the bunch as far as the driving experience but the MPGs for the Prius C made it an easy decision. Due to my location (Minneapolis), I have opted to get the block heater installed - dealer will do it for 150. Looking forward to many miles and low fuel costs!
Hey, congrats on the new C and the great mileage! We average near 60mpg on commutes but over 70 on our short jaunts around town. Keep those ga$ dollar$ in YOUR pocket.
Congratulations on your C! My previous car was a Chevy Metro and for so long the Aveo was the only other small hatchback (non hybrid) and I couldn't make myself buy it because of the gas mileage (my Metro - even as an OLD car - always got better mileage than a new Aveo). I could never understand the Chevy philosophy in going BACKWARD in engineering. Great choice with the C
Welcome aboard! What model year of Aveo was it? That block heater will help a lot w/the initial warmup period's mileage, even in warm weather. You'd better go shopping for snow tires pronto. On other members of the Prius family, we frequently hear of complaints of snow poor performance/traction or the traction control being overly sensitive. Well, if they had snow tires...
Congrats! I debated on getting the cruze rio and elantra and soul. C couldn't be beat when it came to MPG. Def want to see some pics!
Well, going from Minneapolis to St Paul last night I was able to get 67.3 mpg. A mix of city and highway driving. My work commute I get about 62 to 66 mpg - I was able to make some improvements today over yesterday. Once the Prius gets broken in and I get a better at driving it, I think I should be able to hit 70mpg going to and from work. Its amazing that I have more than doubled my MPG from the Aveo. The Prius line is truly a great piece of engineering!
