While many attributed the Aug sales to end of year deals and incentives (which ended Sept 4), Volt sales continued to climb in september with 2851 units sold, which is 20 more than Aug. With the plant shut down for the Impala hopefully there will not be a shortage so Oct can keep up sales.

That is just some reverse calculate because the lease deal is good. People complain because the cars are expensive and then complain when they have great lease deals for the more avg buyer (avg via USA today article 32K).

It looks like about 21K-26K volts for the year, depending on how they handle possible october shortages and end of the year. Next year I would expect around 30K vehicles.

Hmm seems like you've been driving a Prius or lexus hybrid if you are yawning.
Volt drivers smile and have excitement ;-)

I hope Toyota notices and makes the Plug-in battery larger.

As long as it is a Li family battery. If they have to go back to a NiMH (supply chain) then they may not be able to.

Give up another two or three vertical inches in the hatch? That should work. The current battery is just a bolt-on to the existing chassis. The only mistake Chevy made was sacrificing the third rear seat. In Chevy's defense, though, they have an active liquid cooking system, which is superior to what Toyota and Nissan are doing (a small fan).

The T layout goes back to the EV1. It is probably the best configuration for weight distribution while maintaining a low profile for aero. A skateboard one might not work with the requirements for exhaust.

While skimming the web, I saw mention of someone figuring out a pack arrangement that allowed a fifth seat in the Volt. I doubt it was tested in terms of its affect on driving dynamics.

Volt doesn't need a third rear seat. It's a compact car. Five adults generally aren't going to want to sit in a compact for an extended time. Even in cases of lunch trips, a larger vehicle will likely be the go to choice.

It can benefit from reducing the tunnel in the rear seat to allow a middle anchor point for an baby seat to widen its appeal. A 4+1 seating arrange would be nicer with a middle child seat, but I can see legal concerns over adults using the seat. In other +1 seaters, like the iQ, the child seat won't fit an adults legs. If I could sit in the rear middle, over the transmission hump, of an old Camaro, people too big for a +1 could do so in a Volt.

Sorry to hear that. the car being in the shop over a month is a P.I.T.A. Hopefully the problems / issues will be resolved shortly.

Perhaps, he was referring to this thread and this one.

He even recorded and posted a video.
