I know that in general, the Prius One is not usually sold to the general public, but I was able to get one because I guess they weren't able to find rental agencies to take them, anyone else out there has bought one? Any regrets on not getting a Two with the 1000 dollars worth in extras?

Anyone out there think that Super White is a bad paint?

What is the equipment they omitted in Prius One?

    1) No cruise control
    2) No tracer touch display
    3) No tounneau cover
    4) No SKS
    5) No rear seat center arm rest with cupholders (totally did not know about that until after we signed the papers)
    6) Under floor storage is not flat, instead has a compressed foam compartmentalized holder in the space, so that can be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it.

Does it have a traditional key hole on the dash instead of the push button?

Are you going to add the upgrades on your own? Living in HI you don't need Cruise Control. Does it have the Stock BLK alloys under the wheel cover?

I think the $1000 would've been money well spent.

I could live without the other stuff, but I would pay $5,000 extra for cruise control if it otherwise meant not having it.

What did you pay for the One? Hopefully they discounted it....

And Super White is a fine color - I like it better than the pearl.

Yah I really did not need the cruise control especially since I like playing the "get the most MPG game". :)
It was the push-button start. No discount, just MSRP which was the 1000 less than the Two since it is Hawaii, they don't discount the Prius unless they are getting in the new year's model and want to start making room, but the way it has been selling here, there is no real need. Best I heard were people getting 500 off in early 2011 because the 2012s were already coming on the lot. The Toyota dealers here were selling Priuses like crazy at MSRP.:(
Out of the missing pieces, the one I am bummed about the most is the tounneau cover, but the cargo area seems so low, especially compared to a RAV4 that I talked myself into the idea that the tounneau cover would not get much use because of the lack of height to actually put stuff underneath.:p Plus I am getting tint, so hopefully that will help keep away prying eyes.
I know that the rest of the options all together make the 1000 dollars a deal, but they were not "needs" and now the 1000 dollars is being used on tint and car seat covers.

The 64' Mustang turned out to be a highly sought after investment. Maybe your right....in time.

Seems like the tounneau cover could be easily added if you want it. I bet the same is true of cruise - since the car is drive-by-wire (no actual physical connection between the gas pedal and the engine), you probably just need to install a cruise stalk and connect it to the correct pins on the correct electrical connector. Of course the computer programming for cruise is all in place, just the switches to turn it on are missing.

This was the case with my wife's ex-Yaris. All you needed to do was wire up a couple of pushbutton switches to the right empty pins on the ECU connector and you'd have cruise.

Yah I think we will be fine without the tonneau, I am going to tint the back window and if something needs to be covered I can always make a homemade cover.

The price in CA is $19,600 for the Prius one (from Carwoo.com) while the Prius Two is $21,400 which is a $1,800 difference. where can i find the specs of the prius one?

    1) No cruise control - i'm ok with no cruise control since i don't use it.
    2) No tracer touch display - can you elaborate what this is? is there no controls on the steering wheel?
    3) No tounneau cover - how much is this?
    4) No SKS - what functionality are you losing without SKS?
    5) No rear seat center arm rest with cupholders - is there no armrest at all? or there's an armrest, just no cupholders?
    6) Under floor storage is not flat - can you elaborate what this is?

(In model year 2010, Toyota used Roman numerals to name the models. They were I thru V. For MY 11 and beyond, they started spelling out the words (One thru Five).

SKS is great stuff. You can walk up to your car and touch the rear of the door handle it (or all doors) unlock. Press on the ridges, and the doors lock. Cars with 3-door SKS (vs. 1-door) also let you do this on the other front door and the rear hatch.

Also, you can start the car w/the key in your pocket (put your foot on the brake and press power).

(some of what it goes into isn't really smart key but rather the buttons on the fob)

I think that in subsequent years, the trim levels had different standard equipment. Even without SKS, the 2012 One still has push button start.

Even SKS-less 04-09 Priuses have push button start. On 04-09 Priuses w/no SKS, you had to put the key fob in a slot. On ones w/SKS, you also had to do this if the key fob battery is dead or you disabled SKS via the button under the steering column.

The slot and disable button gone on 2010+ Priuses (at least model II/Two on up) and in the case of dead fob battery, you hold it up to the power button.

No need to do that with the One, even without SKS.

can you post a picture of the under floor storage?

from one of the threads, these are the things not in the 2010 Prius I compared to the Prius II, can you confirm, if the other features are also missing in the 2012 Prius one?

    · Cruise Control - confirmed
    · Touch Tracer display - confirmed
    · Smart Key - confirmed
    · EV mode
    · Rear wiper
    · Rear tonneau cover - confirmed
    · Heated side mirrors
    · Satellite radio antenna and satellite capable radio
    · Rear armrest with two cup holders - confirmed
    · Two rear-door speakers
    · Rear heater duct
    · Passenger-seatback pocket
    · Foldable rear headrests
    · Underbody spoilers and spats

i also read that the one is supposed to be for fleets only, can consumers buy it also with no special requirements (business or something like that)?

No EV mode, Yes to rear window wiper, I have no idea whether the side mirrors are heated or not, radio is just standard, I think there are two rear speakers, yes to rear heater duct and headrests, unsure about the underbody spoilers and spats.

Prius One was intended more for fleet vehicles (Taxis, government cars) than rental fleets. The Super-white paint is a cheaper alternative than the $295 up-charged Blizzard Pearl, which is a good thing since most fleets (taxis especially) will paint or vinyl over the factory paint anyway.

The rentals I've seen are typically a Two or Three, minus navigation.
