I'll have an iphone on the evening of launch day, so I will update this thread that weekend unless somebody else does. I'm a bit concerned with it working. Depending on how entune plays audio the audio may not play back over the lightning dock cable. The adapter for existing functions won't be out until October, and I'm likely not getting one of those. Worst case audio can be played back over bluetooth, which is fine - but I hope all the entune apps still work. we'll see.
It *should* work as the other end is standard USB. I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 today. I'm hoping iOS 6 cures my BlueTooth pairing woes. I have to re-pair every time I get in the car. I'm also hoping that my new "Share Everything" plan with free wifi tethering obviates the need for a cable for Entune. We shall see....
Have you tried rebooting your iPhone? Here's how: Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it. Wait until the white Apple logo appears. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting. If it doesn't help you, it may help someone else!
I preordered it, so I'll have some updates that weekend as well. Here's to hoping for the best XD SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 ? 2
I think it's because I run 2 BT connections, iPhone and Escort Live!. Even with iOS6 it refuses to automatically re-pair most of the time until I manually recycle BT off/on. At least with iOS6 BT settings are no longer buried under multiple menus.
I just noticed that BT is now under the settings app, instead of buried under settings then general Thanks for the tip
Phone and music seemed to work just fine, no issues so far. I couldn't get Internet connected for entune though.. Sorry I didn't have a chance to troubleshoot but I was just on a quick trip. Turning the phones Bluetooth on and off didn't fix the issue. I've never used an iPhone with my car before (brief trip to Android land) so that could be normal? Do you have to plug iPhone's into the USB port for that to work? I was only using Bluetooth.
In the 3 and 4 yes. I was hoping it would do EVERYTHING via Bluetooth, not havering to plug it in. It would also be nice if I did not have have to go through the whole set up about every other week (20-30 trips). Siri working with the car and not ageints the car system. Thanks guys for giving me some in put to your experience using the iPhone five
Yeah after testing entune works via USB in my experience. And Siri performs very very well, though it does seem to hear a little better when directly talking to the phone than when used over Bluetooth. I wonder if the entune issues lies within Apple's Bluetooth or the app or what.. Hmm..
I'm sure it's apple. I say that as a Mac guy so don't think I'm hate mongering. How ever as most of you should know apple does not play nice with anyone.
Makes sense, the phone has a much more favorable acoustic environment than the car. Especially now with the iPhone 5 having three mics in the handset. Even better noise cancellation.
I have had my iPhone 5 for a week now and have had no problem connecting via BT to my C. I have a Two, so no Entune. But ive been listening to music and using the phone over the prius with no problems. I also had no problems with the iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and 6.
I've been having lots of issues with audio when connected with USB to my i5. When I get back in the car and turn it on with the i5 connected it just starts playing audio through the phone rather than over the speakers. The weird thing is that the controls still work through the entune system. Unplugging/plugging doesn't work, I have to shut down the music app which sucks because I listen to audio books and I lose my place. I know I could to the BT route but I like have access to browse my iphone's list w/o picking it up
How do you activate Siri when connected via USB? I guess it's not possible through BT, would be nice if I can do it when connected through USB.
That's really what I'm interested in. If I could use Siri through the car and not even need to take it out of my pocket. If I could do that I'd go buy one right now lol. I have a old old old, I'm almost embarrassed to say this, . . . *gulp 3GS iPhone
