My wife says we're all just "sick" because it's more about MPG than speed. So, maybe she's right but I'm having a great time! I took delivery of my C3 on Thursday, Sept. 13th and, by calculation, averaged 47.9 on my first 8.78 gallon fill up.
My first tankful was rated at 50.3 mpg. Yesterday I took a 180 round trip Interstate trip on mostly flat terrain. Speeds up to 74 mph. Upon return home mpg for trip rated 49.7 mpg.
Looks like the Prius display is about 2 MPG above the "real" gas usage - I filled up today the first time with updating FUELLY and the Prius display showed me a 54,1 MPG reading and FUELLY calculated 52.3 MPG. Will be interesting to see if it will be about the same difference the next time I fill up.
Just got my Prius C -3 about 1 1/2 weeks. It makes weird sounds, i hOpe that is normal. 415 miles on my first tank, still ticks left.
If by "weird sounds" you mean that odd, vaguely robotic humming it makes in electric mode, that is quite normal. My husband just noticed it for the first time yesterday, as he happened to be in the driveway as I was coming home from work. Personally, I think it's a pretty cool sound.
Hey I'm Jesse from LA. Picked up a Black C4 2 weeks ago. My new daily driver replacing my 12 mpg Ford Explorer. Getting 50 mpg going to work and 90+ mpg on the way home
How many miles on the car? Is it broken in yet? What are your temperatures like? Are you running with a/c? Hills, stop lights, heavy traffic, can all impact your MPGs.
Have you read many of the threads on not only this forum but the Gen3 forum as well? There are so many threads on how to drive for best fuel economy.
1800ish. virtually no a/c. 60s-70s last 2 fillups. almost all local driving so plenty of stop lights, but then again that is what the C is all about right?
The break in thing is somewhat of a myth, especially in today's vehicle. Now breaking in a driver is another story.
Since you said "somewhat" I won't object too much... but I, and others, have experienced the mileage improving for the first thousand miles or so. Of course, this could also be as much, as you say, breaking in the driver as the car.
Yes the vast majority of yours or others experience in increased fuel economy over the life of a vehicle is almost all due to the driver's improvement.
I just got my Prius c a few weeks ago and I have been pleasantly surprised with the mileage so far. I reset trip A on every tank. First tank the car said I got 57.1mpg (actual fill up was 54.9). The second tank read 58.8 (actual was 56.7). I just returned my 2010 Prius from lease and the mileage was never as high as it is on this car, I was averaging about 52.5 for the last 7000 miles that I had the car. I found that the computer always seemed to be about 5% higher than reality. This seemed to be true throughout the time I had the previous car and is looking like very similar results on this one. It does take a while to get the hang of how you can get the best mileage. I think driving a Prius for 3 years gave me a great head start getting better mileage out of this one.
Odd. I've seen others state this, and again have to believe I got the "exceptional" car. In my case, the car reports lower gas mileage than what I see when reporting to Fuelly and what my own math tells me. The car seems to report 1 or 2 miles per gallon less than what I am actually getting.
