PIP does not charge the plug in battery while driving

    This article was written in 2010, and refers to the pre production Plugin. The Plugin you could buy today has one large primary battery which can be recharged either by plugging into electricity or going downhill.

    Why would you want to charge the HV battery with gasoline rather than a plug? While the Prius ICE is efficient, it is not that efficient.

    At least one poster has completely recharged his PIP HV Battery coming down off Donner Pass via regeneration. (7000 feet elevation)

    But yes, no point in charging it with gasoline.

    What ever happened to the art of being human? You guys are turning into wretched old trolls.
    The PiP does not have 2 batteries.. rather 1 large pack. The car runs in EV mode when SoC is between 25% and 85%. Below 25% and the car will run in HV mode.
