Wow, who do I have to kill to get $2,000 -$5,000 off the MSRP? I talked to salesman today on a Prius II. He said the sticker was $25 and change, and he would sell it for $25,000 + TTL. The best that I have found was around $23,751 +TTL and the dealer has 30 Prius II in stock. Is it because I live in upstate New York? Actually, the dealer today was in Vermont.
I picked up my 2012 Prius 2 a few days ago for a screaming deal from my local Toyota dealership here in Tucson, AZ. I drove it off the lot for $23,778 OTD (car, 2.5% city tax, ttl, license, doc fee, and floor/cargo mats). I'm a financial analyst, and negotiating is my forte. It can be done!
Yes, it partially has to do with where you live. Find the best you can in your area then figure out if it might be worthwhile driving (or even flying) somewhere to pick one up.
Did a search on cars.com and found a dealer in Ithaca NY (131 miles away) selling Toyota Prius Two for $20,999 Sent them a email for more details. I just can't figure out how one dealer can sell for so much less.
Incentives for meeting a quota specific to that particular dealership by Toyota that will result in a substantial bonus negating the loss. Each dealership are given different goals/objectives at different times based on past sales performance, etc.
I thought it was more a regional thing. East coast has to pay more then the west coast? The particular dealer that I found with a low price is not near any major cities, so could that also be a reason? I'm just trying to figure out how to get the best price. I tried carmoo.com, and only received 2 offers. I tried calling around to the dealers in my area and they make it sound like I'm ripping them off.
American Express | Car Buying Home Page is where I started my search. Put in your info and you'll receive emailed quotes from Amex within an hour. You do not necessarily need to be an Amex card holder to use this program, so everyone can give it a try. It's easy to see which dealers are motivated to sell once you see their prices. Avoid the ones that send you a quote of over $24K on a Pri II.
You can get leather seats in a Prius 2? So, here's another thing that I still don't understand. I thought that the 2 came with certain options, the 3 came with more, and the 4 came with more, on up to the 5, which I would assume would have most, if not all of the options. I guess I'm confused? Can someone help me out?
Still waiting to here back from the dealer. Mean time, I did some research about the dealership and came up with a lot of negative comments on Yelp and Google, so I'm going to pass.
I just purchased my new 2012 Prius Two today in Asheville, NC. It had MSRP of $25758 and I bought it for $21,777 out the door at the dealership (I'll pay state sales tax when I license it in my home state). I drove 365 miles to get this deal as it was at least $2000 less than the local dealers wanted. Very happy with the dealer and the process.
Did you type that price right? $22.9K is about the lowest price any dealership can let a Prius II go for without losing money (exhausts all of their holdbacks and dealer cash). For a dealer to let one go for $21.7K is insane. What dealership did you pick it up from?
Yes, it is really correct. It is Jim Barkley Toyota in Asheville, NC. They post their no haggle price on their website and add absolutely nothing to it, at least for out of state buyers. Did not even have to pay for the 30 day temp tag. When I first looked at thier site about a week ago, they had over 60 Prius Twos for that price. I think they still have a few, when I was their yesterday, they still had some silver, black and dark gray ones. One of my most pleasant car buying experiences ever. They have a few Threes, but I think they are $24,488, which is much less of a discount, but still pretty good from what I've seen.
