My tax preparer has infomed me it is form 8936 and it would still qualify.
I also called Mo, one of the guys at the bottom of the toyota release about the plug in being covered. He said, it was coverd under the 2500 irs credit.

Buying you get credit....but you can lease and toyota is applying the credit directly as a cashback off the top. I got 3150 off here in NY state on my lease.

This is definitely the best time to buy/lease a PiP, the early buyers sure must be alittle peeved.

Early adopters don't care about the cost. You get what you pay for, and if you want to be among the first to get a new product, you will pay for that privilege - and sometimes you will even stand in long lines. LOL

Dan not sure if yo are aware... but on a purchase you get $2,000 cash back from Toyota and 0% 60 months in addition to the fed tax rebate of $2,500 and if you are on Long Island- Long Island power is giving $500 cash as well

That general stereotype doesn't match the comments I've been reading about the plug-in Prius.

Yes you found some pips with mileage.

However those probably are used but never registered. I still see the airbag tags hanging from the glove box and one of them still hasnt had the hood tape removed.
Dealers keep cars for various reasons. They could restrict test drives to one car on their lot to save miles on the rest, they could've been driven by salesmen/women, could've been service loaners, etc. Thats why their prices are almost the same as a new one.

Your right though, you did find a few. Good job!

The main reasion I asked for is, why buy a used one if the tax incentives and the Toyota purchase incentives along with them are gone? The price would have to be way below the new purchase prices.

Exactly. The prices on the cars you found dont make the cars worth it in my opinion. I would definitely go new but thats up to you.

What comments? The only ones here match that stereotype perfectly. Go back to last winter and early spring this year. There was little serious complaining about the pricing. Where are the comments from those who refused to buy a pre-ordered PHEV because of the cost. I can remember maybe one or two at the most who backed out becaue of price (publically, anyway).

Just had a dealer in Oregon quoute a 29,885 price for a base model. At 0% APR for 60 months and $4k in state+fed rebates, an absolute bargain and cheaper than a Prius Three.

Can you keep the state rebates from Oregon if you take it and register it in Berkeley? Or are the state rebates for California?

Actually the idea would be to get the CA rebate. Already emailed CVRP folks to figure out if that can be done, but from what I'm reading on their site, that should be fine.

Do double check because many of the state rebates require the vehicle to be purchased in-state.

Granted, none of the dealers here are offering anything near that price range, so it might make sense to buy the car there even without the rebate.

Are you wanting to get an HOV sticker as well?

Not really, though I won't mind having it. That certainly has no purchase restrictions, just a VIN number (and CA reg, obviously)

Ok. I thought I had seen some problems earlier because the dealer didn't fill out a form correctly for the HOV sticker. That made me think that maybe the dealer had to do the application. Maybe it was for a leased vehicle.
