Well I installed my developer Beta today of iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and I was EXTREMELY excited to see during the keynote that the MAP bluetooth protocol had been implemented which should allow iPhone users to be able to see text messages and such on their Nav units. I was on lunch actually when I got a calendar invite from a coworker and my Nav system played a noise i had never heard before, at which point it told me i had a new calendar invite and i could open and read it. Success!!!! I didn't have time to make sure the rest of the bluetooth and entune stuff works yet (i'll do that after work), but I thought I'd let anyone else know about the implementation of the MAP protocol that it IS there, and at least preliminary testing suggests it DOES work! Woo hoo!

Now just hope Siri will be integrated into our existing cars!

Ok the rest of the normal Entune apps work as they should. My audio was working great with my spotify app over bluetooth too so it appears as if all the stuff that worked before still does. I did notice something though, in my haste earlier when I saw the calendar notification, I got another one driving home and although I could open the calendar notification, it didn't actually contain any text, so that might not be the most useful thing in the world. I have yet to get a text message though while I'm driving. I'm sure i'll get to test that before too long.

Yeah I'm a tad worried about the Siri integration that Apple was talking about, unless they give us the option to possibly swap the voice control button from the NAV to Siri instead, it seems like it'd be one heck of an upgrade. (Although I don't know much about installing new tech into steering wheel blanks)

I would think that the way to do this would be for the iPhone to add a setting to remap the dial last outgoing call feature on Bluetooth headsets to go to Siri instead. Then any Bluetooth headset would be able use Siri by holding down the call button. This method would also be reminiscent of the current method of holding down the home button to access Siri.

My old $50 blue ant speaker phone that I clipped into the visor worked great with Siri. I just pressed the answer button when there was no phone call and Siri would beep and I could talk to her. Now with my fancy integrated system in my new Prius I can't find any button that will just give me an open mic with Siri. I always assumed Siri worked with any Bluetooth headset. I was surprised it didn't work in my Prius.

I can verify texts and event invites are working with iOS 6 beta as well.

Email and calendar still are not working, but I heard that Toyota will be releasing an updates fix that.

Email and Calander are not covered with the MAP protocol, it requires something else to be supported in the bluetooth stack.

I don't know about calendar, but using my Blackberry I get a tab in the Message screen in the car for SMS and a tab for each of the e-mail boxes I have configured on my Blackberry. I can control which e-mail boxes are sent to the car by setting the MAP options on the Blackberry Bluetooth setup. When a new message comes in on SMS or one of the enabled e-mail boxes, the display pops up a screen with the sender's name and subject, and buttons to read aloud or ignore the message.

Blackberry may be a one-trick pony, but the one trick (messaging functionality) is excellent.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the higher-end Android devices also handle this.

I really hope we can get Siri on our existing cars as well. I am excited for this and also a little upset if they dont allow us to be able to integrate because I just bought my car 2 months ago!

I found it to not work that well currently. Basically it seeme like all notifications just created a message "New Text Message" for me. When you go to the phone screen the message tab is there and you can have the message read to you if drivign, or view the details when not driving.

The email, photo, and calendar in the apps section were still not enabled. Is this the same as what others are seeing? I know someone else mentioned Toyota is still working on a fix, but do we think maybe that the Beta iOS6 framework is just not completely finished?

Does Entune still seem to over utilize the CPU on the phone with IOS6 (beta)?

Nope, email and calendars don't work with Prius Entune and iPhone (I heard that it works with Blackberry??). I haven't noticed the over-utilizing of iOS6 memory? I did, however, notice that you can turn off notifications in the bluetooth settings for your Prius while you are connected. Alwaysthirteen, maybe that is the case for you? It seems to be "off" by default now. Just connect for phone, then go in to your iPhone's bluetooth settings, and click on prius. There you will see a bunch of options. Hope that helps...

Working here (HDD). Apple stopped providing E-Mail notifications in one of the betas, maybe 3 from memory. It's only SMS and iMessages that have been coming through since then. Calendar is a whole other beast, different interface protocol is needed for that hence why it isn't working. Apple also doesn't allow for replying using quick reply. It's in their guideline documents.
