I saved my 7k and got a based PIP, did the following mods:

    3M tint all Windows
    Carbon fiber wrap roof
    Shark fin antenna
    Spacers
    JDM steering wheels
    JDM folding mirrors
JDM side mirror turn signal lights
    Katzkins leather upgrade
    Cargo net
    Satin lower side rockets
    Bumper plugs
    Relocate front license plate
    Center console organize tray
    Sarge 10
    HID head lights

I think thats it and I didnt even spend half the cost difference on my mods.

    What should I do next?

Then you would have paid $7,000 more, and you'd still have a crappy GPS.

If you have an iPhone or Android phone, get WAZE GPS. It is really good, gives you turn-by-turn via Bluetooth. I highly recommend it.

so.....with WAZE GPS I have the phone in my right hand, left hand on steering wheel, gaze the turn by turn info on phone (instead of it displayed on head unit) and get a ticket for texting while driving, whoo hoo! way to go!

Or use one of the available mounting units (mine fits in one of the cupholders, but others mount in various ways) to hold your phone or portable GPS unit. WAZE and others give you verbal turn-by-turn instructions, but I prefer to mute the voices on them. (I have enough voices in my head.):) A police officer might cite you for distracted driving, or something similar,(unsafe speed for conditions comes to mind.) In order to cite you for texting or talking on the phone, he would probably have to examine your phone or subpoena your phone records to find evidence of such activity. In fact, here in California, it is legal to hold the phone to dial a number, it's just that you can't hold it to talk or listen.
Kudos on the idea for the thread, priuskitty! :p

No. I have a 1 Amp iPhone charger in my console, and I plug my phone in. You should input a destination into Waze when you are parked, same as any GPS. Once you start to move, Waze will give you turn-by-turn instructions over the car stereo, via Bluetooth. It will interrupt whatever you're listening to with navigation directions. You can adjust this for "No Voice Prompts," "Turns only," or "Detailed." If it's a route that I'm very unfamiliar with, I set it for maximum detail. Then it tells you 500 feet before you turn, and it gives you the whole street name, etc. But you don't need to look at the screen once it begins to navigate.

Another great thing about Waze is that it gets real-time traffic data from the other Waze users, and it will automatically route you around traffic jams with incredible effectiveness.

It looks like you trimmed the plate itself, didn't you? Can you give us some more detailed close up photos?

yeah i really want to do that license plate mod too only thing thats making me hesitate from ordering the plugs are
    1) i dont know which plugs! (Order Form) i have it in classic silver
    2) i like the additional 1/2 inch the license plate protrudes as i've definitly parked too close before where the plate took the hit rather then my bumper

I made certain that the dealer did not install the front license plate bracket. Hence, so far I have no front plate.

I did trim my plate, however i did that for my GTI i just sold.....I did trim the bracket some to fit between bumper and lower lip. I will probably get a new plate when my reg runs out next year.

Just remove the bracket, experiment with how you want it to look...you can do it however you want.

Yeah i did that with my last car, but the PiPs all around here had been on the lots for a few months so all the dealers installed the brackets already during PDI. I called every dealer for miles trying to find one that was not installed already...ugh

so I ended up with bumper plugs which look decent and are cheap.'

Just to be clear, fitting a plate onto the grill as I did does take some modding of the plate....as the size is too tight to fit. Mine was cut/trimmed for my last car already but if you redrill the holes, slide plat upward abit and trim bottom it will fit.

I will be getting a new plate to trim and mod for this car properly next year when my reg is ready for renewal. But for now i am using this very small trimmed plate from my GTI

I haven't used the Android version, but it will most likely work. Of course, your phone is already Bluetooth paired, I assume. WAZE is free, so try it. I think its amazing. Much better than a Garmin. It finds everything, it warns you of speed traps and accidents... it's really good.
