I have to drive right through Naperville, I get tones of honking and flipping off every day. Think I should start tracking them alone with my mpg's?
That's my neck of the woods too! See a Habenero that's me. Maybe we can start a hypermile train. Or go in both lanes. Rt. 59 rush hour.
I bypass 59 now lol. I come Bolingbrook and go to North Aurora. I now take 86th street to rt 59 for a block to Montgomery THEN to Eola to Indian Trail. Ill keep a eye out for ya
So this morning I'm driving to work . . . a little achy from a home construction project and sleepy when a white, jacked-up pickup joins traffic. Like similar trucks driven by the not-so-bright, it was making a racket from a badly rebuilt engine and stinking of no catalytic converter, I rolled up my windows on that side and waited for the light to change. The light changes and we turn from two left-turn lanes into three lanes, adding an outside lane that ends a quarter of mile down the road and suddenly, the noise behind me increases as this jerk decides to change lanes, over-take on the right, and cut in front of me. . . . not this morning sonny boy. Now I'm driving my 150,000 mile, 2003, 1.5L, sedan shaped, Prius but at speeds under 40 mph, the instant torque and quiet, clean engine has a lot of pickup . . . which I used to close the gap well in advance . . . and avoid the cut-off and having to follow the noisy, stink bomb. So my mileage that morning, 50 MPG, dropped to 49 MPG but I could afford it . . . more than he could with his cheap shot. I must have burnt an extra nickel of gas compared to his wasted fifty cents but I didn't care this morning. I really should get more sleep at night but today I just wanted to ride into work with the windows down, enjoying the 72F weather, fresh air, and relative quiet. Bob Wilson
Yes, I get to feeling really really really bad that the person behind me does not drive a Prius C and get 50 plus MPG's! Just wanted to keep the post fun OP.
I feel really really really really bad that the person in the Prius C is only getting 50 plus MPG's !
Ditto! I feel if I'm "only" getting 50, then I must be doing something wrong! But they did say 50 plus.
thats funny as hell. I was just thinking that myself today when driving to work...I've been so dam concious of the MPG being at 50 or so, then i say..what the ---k am i so dam worried about..i had a freakin yukon xl the last 7 years and this is a dream compared to that...<------Reality check
yup. agreed on the trade up. i just had to Revan86. kids are getting older, one is already driving on his own, and i used to have small cars before going with the big family car. My first car was a brand new 89 honda crx. I loved that car and owned it until 2003. great little car. We had a couple civics and an accord. rav 4, and a tocoma ..THEN went with the GMC's...ugh...I'm so happy that would normaly have cost me barely a quarter tank, now just about fills up this one ). yes i'm giddy
There is always a reason. I still have a couple of SUVs in the household fleet because they take care of a need. Some guys and gals don't have the option of multiple vehicles and have to get by with a multi purpose vehicle like a truck or SUV.
I feel really bad for the guy in the Volt with that terrible capacitive touch center console. It just completely ruins the car. Really, I wanted to buy a plugin on this go around but the Volt was too expensive to save me money over the long run and the center console capacitive buttons barely worked at all for me. Was very disappointed .
