Hello all, thanks to you guys I found out that TEIN was looking for an R&D Prius C. For me properly lowering the car would mean: better handling and better stance, nuff said.. pix!

Did they give you any information about when the products would be ready for retail? I am looking for a set of springs and can not find any that I trust yet. Did the handling improve at all with the lowered stance?

As far as i know they put a Toyota Yaris lowering spring on it. I spoke with the lead before handing over the car and told him that its rumored that the yaris and Prius C share suspension components. They put the High Tech Springs part number NCp131. And as the ride goes.. wow big difference, more comfortable, smoother, and confident on turns, it makes the stock tires feels better no more wiggling on 75mph lane changes lol, and about the previous question from Ryephile
seems like they changed dampers and bumpstops judging from the second picture which is all the OEM stuff they took out, actually the front and back dont vary much on ride, trust me i've tried driving over potholes, cracks, and manhole covers as much as i can and it never buttoms out and still more comfortable lol

Thanks for the pictures and the info. Those look to be much shorter bumpstops than factory, which will gain back some free compression stroke lost from lowering it.

just finished talking to the TEIN guys, he said that they are still going to be testing the Yaris Springs and see if they can integrate the part numbers on both the Yaris and Prius C (because of the Prius being heavier from the batteries). He also said that if you guys cant wait you can order the Lowering spring for the Yaris get the HIGH TECH SPRINGS (gold). But the parts number would be different since the one they put on me was straight from Japan. Give them a call if you need for info (562) 861-9161 look for Jonathan Lee.

^^^ the yellow rubber stops were cut to accomodate lower springs, and the white ring were removed since they were basically useless after installing the lowering springs according to Jonathan.. hope this helps, anymore question please let me know

Interesting. Wonder how hard this will be to do in my driveway? Any idea on retail for these?

Did they tell you how much the springs lowered the car?
    Is the car level?
And the ride quality, its not teeth shattering?

Also, is the bump stop pictured in your photo just the actual amount they cut off?

Ive lowered several cars before including civics, mirage, eclipse and an accord, my advise is get a buddy to help you and rent a spring compressor at Pepboys or Autozone, its free once you return it. The TEIN website said starting $255 so am guessing 255 + shipping.

They said it dropped 1.5" but if someone can please measure stock height with full and empty gas tank please do and ill compare measurements. The car is level with a full tank and the back slowly rises after. Like I said it never bottoms out, no metal to metal noise whatsoever, and still more comfortable. The bump stop on the photo is the actual material they cut off, ill give the measurements if you guys need it. More pix!

How much does the rear go up with an empty gas tank? Any chance you could take pictures of it with a full tank and an empty tank. That has me a little worried, I don't want it to have a noticeable rake as the tank gets empty..

If you measure from the axle center to the wheel arch apex, that's a fairly standard suspension ride height measurement.

On my c Two, factory ride height on a 2/3rds tank and level concrete was:
14.25" front left, 14.375" front right
14.0" rear left, 14.25" rear right

...and yes, it's normal to see cars have asymmetrical fenders or sit non-level from the factory.

The white rings are from the front strut bumpstop assemblies. Removing them will allow the MCU [micro-cellular urethane] to compress significantly more, which is exactly what you need when you remove compression travel with lowering springs. Hopefully, the stock struts can handle that extra stroke; it's likely the OEM's didn't put that hard plastic stop there just for the hell of it.

stock height 2/3------------tank TEIN 2/3 tank ------TEIN empty tank
front driver 14.25----------front driver 12.45 ---------front driver 12.65
front passenger 14.375----front passenger 12.5 ------front passenger 12.75
rear driver 14.0 ------------rear driver 12.5 -----------rear driver 12.85
rear passenger 14.25 ------rear passenger 12.55 -----rear passenger 12.75

On 2/3 full tank on both cars the average drop is 1.70" all the way around the car, which is really significant.
And on the rake question, the back raises .1" more than the front so it is insignificant, the rear just looks higher because it does even on stock it is not level from the start lol, and the front looks slammed because of the black pieces under the bumper. Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the measurements, that's very helpful.

Stock front damper stroke information, help from Micro Image and verified in my workshop:
    6.2" total w/bumpstop removed
11.7" theoretically possible [100% bumpstop compression] bump height
    14.25" stock ride height
    17.9" droop height

With the Tein springs you have at best about 3/4" possible compression stroke. It's likely you're compressing the modified bumpstops quite a bit. The stock pieces are 2.2" long, however with that white plastic ring removed and the 'stops cut down, they're probably more like 1.5" long now [just guessing there].

Moral of the tape measure is, be careful on those big bumps, you're putting a lot more transient force into the damper body and strut towers now.

at first i did, because the first thing i see is the rear from parking it.. that's why i mentioned it, but from the measurements its insignificant. Its like asking you if you notice that your rear bumper is higher than the front bumper stock.

Point taken, Ive only drove it over bumps and such over 3 days or so to compare but now its back to taking good care of the car, wheels are the next thing for me..

For anyone else who's got questions, pls don't hesitate

Any word on if these can just be ordered from them now for our cars or do we just order the yaris ones from what year?
