Hi all, I just wanted to officially announce the recent launch of my Prius DIY website: PriusDIY.com: The Toyota Prius DIY Resource I don’t have much up yet but just getting here was a lot of work (even though I just modified my other site's design). At this point I need to start getting more content posted and have a small backlog of tutorials to do and post. If anyone has a tutorial to contribute I would certainly welcome the support. All I need are full size pics and notes on the job and I can do the rest. My other site has 50+ jobs and I hope to make this site even bigger. However, it can only succeed with contributions / community support. What I’m trying to do is make Prius DIY tutorials simple, easy to find and to the point. Take a look at what I have so far and see. I know there's TONs of info here but you need to spend time finding all this info. This is time many people just don’t have so they don’t bother to DIY. I know from my other site that’s been around for close to a decade now that more people DIY if they have a good guide to follow that’s easy to find (based on feedback). Lastly, I love John’s site, Hobbit’s site and EvNut’s site and have linked to them. Each has their own style, I’m just introducing my style to the mix and I hope you all like it Carl
Wow! You are doing a FANTASTIC job with your site! Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to create the site. It's very helpful to newer Prius owners like myself who want to maintain their own cars as much as possible. Great work! Julia
So my wife is now starting to get mad at me for spending so much time on this...I'm up to #11 now. Anything people would like to see next? I've got headlight replacement, HID ballast replacement (fixed my dying headlight), PCV, spark plugs on deck.
Fantastic work, PriusDIY! How about cleaning of the battery cooling fan as mentioned here: Luscious Garage | Blog | Prius battery cooling fan cleaning, P0A82 With due respect to your wife, of course! Thank you for all of your hard work. Julia
Hi Carl, Nice website, good content. Check your html code, your tutorials tab's code is not correct. I looked at your source code and did see the problem. Easy fix on your end. Like I said nice site, good content, great design and graphics. Just that bad code (404 page not found...) Regards, Ron
I agree with 2009Prius. Competitor? They seem like two completely different websites to me...no comparison at all...one a very full forum related to all things Prius with discussions which often lead to folks offering guidance and education, and the other a simple, concise list of some DIY projects with tutorials. I think it's great but it certainly doesn't rival or replace PriusChat! Honestly....some people see trouble wherever they look.
If I wanted to be a competitor I would have started another forum. My site has no forum and I have no plans of starting one on my site - I like this forum Thanks for the suggestion Julia, I will put it on my list! Ron, I will look into the coding thanks for letting me know
A large number of Do It Yourself stuff on PriusChat so it is clearly a competitive website. PriusChat would and should delete the advertisement for the competitor but it is their call.
Awesome job Carl. Keep on adding stuff. This isn't competition for the website just a great point of reference for DIY stuff. Prius Chat is still the place to go for discussions and such.
Hey Ron, I think I found the problem and fixed it (still have a few pages to go but I had to get to work), let me know if that wasn't it. I did also notice another minor thing I will be fixing but not a 404 problem. This whole sub-domain thing is stretching my coding skills but I'm learning a lot. I will also be adding links to PC if I've seen the same job posted here and/or links to the other Prius sites when I get a chance. I do a lot directly from the repair manual though so if I miss something I probably just don't know about it. This is where I need community help, you can PM me links or email me directly (address on my website). Carl
