I bought the 2012 Prius three in Apr, and the navigation was working fine, when i entered a destination. When I entered a destination, it would say, "Please drive to the highlited route" and it would tell the turn by turn directions and in case you miss the turn, it will immediately say "Route Recalculation" and then guide you to the next turn. Somehow this stopped working and there is NO VOICE GUIDANCE !!! Now when I enter the a destination, it will not say anything. If you are driving in the right direction, no turn by turn voice guidance. If you miss the turn, then it will say "calculating the route". This is driving me nuts since 2-3 weeks. I must have pressed some button or deactivated it unknowingly. I took it to the dealer and the service technician could not figure it out. They said that they have to call the Toyota Technical Service to find out ( looks like only they can call, not the owner). They said they tried to reset it to the factory setting, but that didn't work. Not sure if they know what they are doing. I think these technicians are mechanics, but not familiar with the software and the electronic components and their operation. If anyone has seen this problem and know how to fix it or have any advice, please let me know. I am willing to reset it to the factory settings, if it fixes the problem. Thanks. Pramod
There are two options that could have shut off voice guidance. One is the voice guidance volume, which could be set to 0, which means "off." The other way is that voice guidance itself could be set to off. I'd guess you already have found these settings, but just in case...
I checked the navigation volume and it set to 4 out of 5. Soemhow I think this related to the engine update. It started after that. Before it was working perfectly. I tried to install the upgrade again just in case the previous one did not go through, buy does not help. The only way I see is that they run diagnosis on it and maybe reset back to factory setting.
Maybe it's just me, but nav in my 2005 and now in my 2012 have not had "route recalculation" and "calculating route" in their vocabulary. Ever. If I miss a turn, it simply recalculates and gives me a new direction. (I swear my 2005 used to sigh before continuing, but my 2012 is too chipper for that.) Are you sure you have a factory nav unit?
Yes it is a factory navigation. It came with the package deal. The only options I see are to go back to previous version of entune 1.8.4 or to reset it to the factory setting. This needs to be done by the technician. I am working with the service dept. over here to how we can fix this. Calling toyota customer care does not help much because they send it back to the local service center.
I have had the same problem since the Entune upgrade. Have you found a solution, yet? OK, I thought I would post the solution, in case someone else runs into this. After Entune successful update to 2.1 on the Entune basic system, the navigation directions no longer worked. You could hear them by pressing the speaker icon, but not on its own. The only thing it would say is recalculating route. Solution: replace part 866141 Hard Disc and/or Navigation Comp Cover Subassy 997055 PT29647120W Extension Box T1,72,T2 74. Improper programming of extension box. Case number was: 122820395.
