I just remounted my SG on top of the steering wheel from my old ride. You have to be careful to allow enough room for the telescopic feature; wasn't a problem before. I got the new velcro from JoAnn Fabrics (80 cents), it seems to work OK.

im new to scan gauge. i tried to read those intro to scangauge but they go into the extremes of xgauges too fast and dont provide enough info on how you use the data. my scan gauge turns off after a 1min. is there way to keep it on? also, what do you with Soc?

Make sure it is in Hybrid mode. I believe it is More>Setup>Fuel>Type - Hybrid.

SOC gives your HV (traction) battery percentage.
I find it useful. It dictates how I drive a little for better mpg. Whether I can splurge a little electric when I'm close to home or whether I should glide without putting my foot back on the gas to gain a little charge since I try to not let it go below 50%.
The PriusChat OG's here can probably tell you more about it and what they use it for.

I was going to go to JoAnn's but end up getting more at Walmart. It came off again. The heat is brutal here.
I haven't put the new velcro on yet. By plugging the cable in the back, it helps keep it balanced so it stays even without the velcro. The SG points upward a little from the pressure of the cable, which is good...I can see it better.
I'll just leave it as is for now.

It should be sticking. It was 106F here today. Unless my car is just that much cooler with the solar roof?

Kalome is correct. The gauge has to be set for Hybrid car or it will turn itself off when the engine dies.

LOL after 114F, 106F is cold. When I moved back to the Sacramento area in 2001 it was hot as hell. After living in Seattle for a year and a half I thought California was trying to bake me. I had forgotten how hot it can get. I remember it being 114F then a couple years later it hit 115F. Summer highs are usually 95-110F.

The difference between our 100-110 and yours is we do not get any relief. Our lows are high 80s / 90-92. 9-10pm it is still triple digit temps.
Sac low tonight is 69. We wont hit that low until October.
At least it doesn't get humid here. Just a little during monsoon season which has been pretty weak so far this year.

Very true. Although I do feel like I'm in the deep south when it's 105F+ and I'm driving through all of the rice fields on my back road commute. LOL

Check this thread for info on mounting the Scangauge using 3M Dual Lock. This is the heavy duty plastic mounting system used to attach toll transponders to windshields - I used it to mount a Scangauge behind the wheel in my C, and it's holding up well.

That is the first thing I used and the velcro part is great, it holds the lock very well but the adhesive didn't stay and it came off my steering column in the heat. Only lasted one day. It held to the SG very well though. It was hard to peel off.
I bought more of that at Walmart on Saturday with some 3M Super Strong double sided Automotive Attachment Tape.
I want to use the tape to secure the 3M Dual Lock velcro (you linked us to) to the steering wheel. Then stick the Dual Lock velcro to the SG.

I did the same thing in my Previa since I had the space.

In my Prius I didn't have that option since I have the OEM GPS. I mounted it here since it hides it a little but is still easy to see. I don't watch it like a hawk but will glance at it from time to time to check my MPG.

How do you route the cat5 cable? The headliner is pretty flush with the windshield.
