You have to goto the dealership and they can turn things off, they are listed in the manual which can be changed. You can't do it yourself like on the Gen II. Some on here who ave a Scanguage can turn it off themselves using it. There are threads describing the process, I'm not aware of how to do it since I don't use a scanguage.
The dealer I bought the car from changed (without charge) the backup racket to a single beep. Is the seatbelt alert listed as a customization? I am not sure if the dealer is allowed to turn it off (some kind of liability thing).
This is what I was told. Essentially, that it was absolutely, positively against Toyota's policy to disable the seat belt beeping. But it IS listed as a customizable feature.
Yes the seat belt alert is an option. The dealer or anyone with an OBD II tool can turn it off. The option codes are the same as in the gen III. It's a 5 minute operation.
I had the reverse beep changed to 1 beep, Pure bliss. It was fast and free at my dealer. I believe the same can be done with the seat belt. You can't turn them off, but can have them changed to one beep.
Because I forgot to ask about this last night, I'll be attempting this tomorrow with a ScanguageII and the codes from another thread for the two functions. Still, looks pretty straightforward since the TXD and RXF codes are already in place.
Gold. Yes, it works. Probably not easy for anyone who hasn't dealt with inputting codes from a device like the ScanGaugeII, however. If I hadn't already had a ScanGaugeII, I would've just taken the PIP in and asked them do the code reversal at a service. Some service depts won't do it for "free", so ask them do it as part of the write up for the first 5K service. If they balk, you walk. There's no safety issue for them to hide behind. I managed to turn off the seatbelt beeps by in my 2012 PIP by disconnecting the seatbelt sensor connector under the seat. It's the little white one to the side of the big green one underneath the seat. No codes triggered, no warning lights on the dash, just beautiful silence
You might have also disconnected the airbag. At least in the passenger seat, no passenger = no airbag deployment.
There's no "might" about it, the passenger airbag (and probably seatbelt pre-tensioner) will not work with the seat sensor disconnected. If you're putting objects on the seat that are heavy enough to trigger the seatbelt warning, you probably should secure them with the seatbelt...
