I've got one of these installed in my Yaris. I never understood why the driver needs a OMG handle. Got a holder off a Forenza (used) for the Yaris. It was a perfect fit after figuring out how to get a round screw into a square hole (hint: license plate mounting hardware).

Couldn't find another Forenza holder, so got a used Aveo holder for the C.

    Here we go:

Cut these nubs off the back of the holder
    [IMG]

Needed to relocate the holes for the Aveo holder (booo... not a perfect fit)

Holes got enlarged, so I needed to use washers
    [IMG]

I'm not happy with the fit of the Aveo holder, so I'm going get a new OEM Forenza holder (for a perfect fit, but will cost about $30). I'll swap it out when I get it. I'll update this post with some additional pics when I get it.

This is a really cool idea. I've been sitting my sunglasses in the larger bin in front of the steering wheel but they tend to vibrate and buzz if I'm not wearing them... and might melt in the sun lol

The only phone I carry is a company phone, and I'm one of the last smart phone hold-outs @ work (don't want to answer emails when not at my desk). Luckily, they haven't pressed the issue and I'm content to let it ride. Still using a Verizon LG VX8300.

I stored my sunglasses in the larger bin in front, but the lens "alligator-ed" from the sun and they were ruined. So I put my new sunglasses in the same large bin, but in a sunglasses sleeve. We'll see how that works out... The sleeve does help keep 'em from rattling too.

The OPs mod is a handy idea and looks very tidy.

Where and how does one order that? Can you share a part number and vendor?

    Thank you in advance!

The one shown in the pictures (Chevy Aveo holder) requires too much work to make it work. I don't recommend it.

On the other hand, I have one off a 2006 Suzuki Forenza in my Yaris (same hole spacing as the C).

Here are some quick pics of it in my Yaris (perfect fit, no modification):

    This is the part I've got on order for the C ($18.48 + tax + $9.99 shipping = $30):

2006 SUZUKI FORENZA Parts - Suzuki Car Parts Catalog Online Store

I got an email that it just shipped. Hopefully it is the same part as shown above from my Yaris. I'll confirm when it arrives.

The square anchors are just standard license plate mounts with screws. I think I got mine for $2 from Pep Boys.

Just did some googling and came up with this:

Black Macally MCUP Universal Cup Holder Phone Car Mount For Cell Phones | eBay

It looks like it might fit one of the front cup holders in the C. The goose neck would allow quite a bit of adjustment.

Looks like it will work, but I don't have a smart phone. If I ever do get a smart phone, I'd probably give this a try. For under $20 you can't really lose.

Please do let us know how it works- the one in the Yaris looks fantastic, and it would be exactly what I was hoping for.

I see two parts listed on the link- one for the Sedan, one for the Wagon- which would be best fit?

I believe both are the same part (ordered sedan one, I think) but just in case, the part number on my e-receipt says: 7811485Z00

It's here. Suzuki part number 78114-85Z00 for a 2006 Suzuki Forenza (sedan or wagon).

The one thing I forgot about was that I needed to grind down both sides of the mount to fit the Yaris/PriusC. I pulled the part off my Yaris to compare. See pic below. It's a lot easier to grind this down on my bench grinder than it is to drill new holes like the case with the Aveo part.

Use the screws from the license mounts, not the black screws that came with the sunglass holder.

Can you give me any tips on step 1?

I am trying to remove the screw covers on the grab handle- should I be gently prying at the end over the hinge? Or are the pry points somewhere else? How firmly attached is it? Would you recommend a butterknife?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi All- I successfully completed this today, with a few variations from Tony's process:

    A) I did use the broad tip of a butter/pate knife to pop open the existing attachment from the hinge side- very easy!

    B) I only removed the nub sticking out- not the base plastic, which turned out to be the same depth as the headliner material and backing:

    C) I couldn't find the plastic parts, so I used cage nuts (for servers and stereo racks instead), as well as the original screws provided with the new part:

    D) I was afraid of dropping the nut into the hole and not being able to get it back, so I used a long piece of scotch tape and some needle-nose pliers to get the flanges into position in the holes:

    E) Then I just screwed it in, and voila! Thank you for the part recommendation- it is a perfect fit for the C

Glad it worked out for you.

This really is a convenient mod for anyone who spends a lot of time on the road.

    Cage nut, huh? Nice.

Good tip! I finally was able to acquire a couple of cage nuts for my Yaris, but turns out they are too big for the hole. I'll have to visit a few car accessory shops to get the nylon nuts for license plate mounting.

Cage nuts that I got came in different sizes and are not square. I thought that they wouldn't fit at first, but they need to be turned slightly. I attached them to a piece of scotch tape to keep them from falling through sideways, then hooked them through to fit. Sorry that I don't have pictures of the process.

I tried again today, this time I screwed the supplied black screw to the cage nut and used it to hold the nut. No matter how I turn or angle the cage nut, it doesn't fit. The nut itself could fit, but the cage around the nut is a little loose (the cage is not flush, there's quite a bit of space between the cage and the nut) so in the end it doesn't fit. These are supposed to be M6 nuts (says so on the side) and the screw fits the nut perfectly.

Thanks for your help, but after trying today with the screw in the nut and trying to pivot and align it, I am positive that my square cage nuts won't fit in the rectangular hole.
