Was able to get an exact fit carbon fiber vinyl to replace the heat blue insert. Gonna take the opportunity to plasti dip the emblem too :p

the front and back emblems have 3 clips holding it, once you remove it it's pretty easy :)

"Exact fit" carbon fiber vinyl can be found on eBay, but the vinyl is cut into 6 pieces that are meant to be applied to the emblem without taking them off.

If you are taking the emblems off, why buy an "exact fit" vinyl when you could cut a sheet to fit?

There is an easy answer to that... the "exact fit" vinyl pieces are cheaper than most of the rolls you can buy from China, you don't have to wait for the shipment from China, and it's already cut out so you don't have to spend your own time cutting everything out. Some people want to do it themselves, other people like the convenience. Why go out to a restaurant if you can go to the grocery store and make a meal for yourself?

The front is easy... pop the hood and there is an access hole. Put your hand in there and undo 2 of the 3 clips holding it in. Pops right out.

Back is easy also, just more complicated than the front. Put a card (such as a credit card) under the chrome Toyota emblem on the left or right side and push toward the center of the car. It will release the side clip and enable to emblem to be free from the rear hatch.

Kevin, did you plasti dip the chrome logo in gunmetal? And put the carbon fiber insert behind it?
The match to the winter grey looks perfect, was debating on buying the plasti dip in smoke or gunmetal, and the clear to give it a little gloss. Yours looks like a perefect match

what did you dip the emblem in to? and could you describe the process?

I love the way this looks. I have the nautical blue metallic, and the bright blue of the emblem clashes....if i don't do the plastic dip, the carbon fiber insert alone will improve this look tremendously

just plasti dip, remove the emblem, stick the carbon fiber insert on the heat blue plastic piece, you can find the precut carbon fiber inserts on Ebay. for the chrome Toyota emblem, you spray that with plasti dip, 3-4 layers, wait about 20 min in between each coat. Than at the end you can choose to apply matte or glossifier coatings depending on your liking.

    cheers :)
