I have a 2008 Pruis--it will be 5 years old in September 2012--the initial extended warranty will expire at that time. The vehicle is in pristine condition--only has 15500 miles! The only major repair --so far--has been the rear hatch rubber piece needing to be replaced, and the 12 V battery died ( was not covered by warranty). The cost of an additional warranty is approximately $1800. for an additional 5 years/60000 miles. 1. I know as the car gets older, more things will need replacing.... 2. I intend to keep the vehicle--waiting to see when the next body style change will appear Do you recommend the additional warranty? Thanks!
No. Extended warranties are priced so that the average buyer gets back less than half of what they paid for it. Consider your original extended warranty: what did it cost, and what did you use it for?
Please advise if the hybrid battery goes out--for how long are they warranted on the 2008 model? thanks
You should read the "Prius Owner's Warranty Information" book that came with the car. In Florida (and other non-CARB states) the hybrid battery is covered for 96 months or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
I just looked at ALL of my original documentation---there is NOTHING which states anything about the Hybrid battery....any place to get a copy of that?
