Given their track record, I find it pretty unlikely that you'll see expandable storage/memory and user replaceable battery on any iPhone from them. They clearly use different amounts of storage to come up w/variants and different price points and make huge profits on flash memory. Oh well...

Comparing iPad to mil-spec hardened PC is pointless. Compare the Prius to Army Hummer.

If you want to use iPad in somewhat challenging environments, you could use the water proof Otter case. That works well in hospital operating rooms where the Apple retina display is great for imaging reviews.

Well the title does say iPad vs "the rest" Since the iPad and H2 are both tablets, why not? They're on both end of the spectrum. Same with the Prius and the Humvee.
I'm sure you've already known that retina display is a term Apple came up with and trademarked to describe their high density display. Before "retina display" there were nothing to describe the high pixel density but it doesn't mean it didn't exist. The first SE Experia the X1 released in fall 2008 had a pixel density of 310PPI. HTC Touch Diamond (fall 2008) had 285PPI and the Touch Diamond 2 (fall 2009) had 291PPI Both are pretty respectable pixel density. Pixel density is about to the shattered again with the release of LG's 5" Full HD at 440PPI. I wonder who'll be the first to use this screen, iPhone5? 6? 7? Galaxy S4? S5? S6? Note 2? Whether it's too big or not, some phone in the future will use this screen. Kudos to Apple for being the first to use 200+PPI on a mid size laptop.

well, they are in the same game, why not? every apple product my coworker has killed was in some retardedly expensive case, I had a little rubber one on my evo, and I had dropped that thing from the top of generators to the cement, and it just wouldn't die...plus, apple stole most of its iphone 4 features from the evo...minus expandable memory, exchangeable batteries, large display, and my personal favorite-the kickstand.

they have a list of approved items for our work, since the company pays for them, the ipad and the toughbook are both on the list-no cost to the employee.

Still can't find the perfect tablet. I had my heart set on the Transformer Infinity. Came to find out that it's plague I/O issues. The MicroSD slot is virtually useless. I read somewhere that it could be Nvidia issue. Now I have to wait for the LTE version and more money. LTE uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Krait processor while WiFi uses Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.

Heh, yeah, the video w/Linus Torvalds was making tech news headlines awhile ago.

I'm surprised there's no chatter here about the Nexus 7.

The iPad Mini rumors keep coming and going. I do wonder if/when Apple will do it and what the price and resolution will be. If it's a 7" tablet, I can't see Apple wanting to price it below $249. They almost always want to have premium pricing.

I could see Apple pricing the "iPad mini" cheaply. Apple's been pretty clear for several years now that they feel smaller tablets aren't as useful or good as one the size of the iPad. However, they're realizing that a cheaper price point like the Kindle Fire pulls in more consumers. IMO, an "iPad mini" wouldn't be about making gobs of money off its sales... it would be about pulling more customers into the Apple ecosystem and getting them to upgrade to a regular iPad 2-3 years later.

Question about iPad and the 2011 Prius IV.
    Mine is connected via Bluetooth.
The songs from a particular album play in the same sequence as on the album.
But after the last song on the album plays, songs play in random order from the other albums on my iPad.

Is there a technique for keeping the iPad playback in the order by album?

    Thanks.

Does it matter if you're playing thru Bluetooth or not? If you don't get an answer, try iPad - MacRumors Forums.

I have no idea since I don't use my iPad or iPhone for music playback much and couldn't care less about albums or album order. I play (my iPod Classic) using primarily using smart playlists (mainly by star rating and last played date) and have it set to shuffle.

Apple just won 1.05B suit against Samsung. I guess Apple had better lawyers.

Of course cproaudio, it had nothing to do with the fact that Samsung was actually infringing on Apple's patents...

Well, Apple had its lawyers patent pretty everything they can think of, even something as common as rectangle with round corners. That takes some good lawyering skills. Patents are useless unless you can defend it in court which also takes some good lawyering skills. It's a good thing that Apple is not into cars or else they would've patented the steering wheel, the gas pedal and the brake pedal then sue every auto makers in the world.

Well said. I'm done with Apple products, although unfortunately my wife might not be. The only good that might come out of this is that it is one more prod to reform the patent system. What's next, patent tapered turds so they can sue everyone that takes a dump?

Microsoft was incompetently evil, Apple is competently evil.

LOTS of announcements from Amazon today. See Kindle and Kindle Fire discussion | PriusChat.

I'm amazed that cheapest Kindle Fire is now $159. Amazon claims it's 40% faster, has 2x the RAM and better battery life than the previous $199 model.
