OK. My wife has a liftback-4 that has a backup camera integrated with the satellite NAV screen. Is there a way for me to add that functionality to my C-3, I have the NAV unit as well.
I'm waiting for that answer also, to see which way I place the backup camera 1. from the 6.1 navi system 2. from homelink mirror
Waiting too...really want to know if the 6.1 can be utilized/activated for backup camera...as it is in the liftback...before going with the mirror option... -M
I also have a 2012 Camry XLE that did not come with a backup camera. I purchased the stock camera and a harness for the 6.1 head unit. The Camry has the connection behind the head unit. As far as I can tell the screen is exactly the same as my prius C screen. I am hoping to test it out on the prius while installing the backup camera for the camry. This will work for the camry, but it says Toyota OEM so I ordered one for my prius as well.. The connectors will work with any backup camera. I'll keep you guys informed. So far looking in Ebay I found a variety of rear cameras, most of them need to installed where one of the license plate lights is located. I don't know for sure if I will sacrifice that.
If that's the case I go on with the mod, only left the big question, rear camera support for the 6.1 navi system. Can you tell me which camera works better with light shine through?
Wholesale Product Snapshot Product name is for Toyota Camry 2012, new promoted waterproof and shockproof mini hidden car backup cameras JY-6904 This is for the 2012 Camry, but it looks like it will fit the Prius. I will let you guys know.
I took my nav out today, and it is actually took 5 mins to do; however, I didn't find any round analog video connectors out there. Here are couple of pictures of the back if it will help to someone. The only connectors I found are these pin ones.
Yep its not going to be that easy. With my Camry I had to splice the analog wire and connect it into the holes in the black connector. Terminal 7 is 12v and 15 in Gnd. 8 is video and 16 is video shield. Keep in mind this is what I know from the Camry install that I just did. I will verify as soon as I get my camera in the mail. I was able to verify pin 7 and 15 already, but I will need the camera to verify video.
Vinny, it will be great if everything will work out for you. Please make some photos during yours installation process. I am sure many of us would like to follow your steps. So anxious to hear a good news from you!!!
One more question. The rear view camera shall turn on whenever the reverse is engaged right? If terminals 7 and 15 are the power to the camera, terminal 8 is the camera and terminal 16 is the shielding, which is basically the grounding. Is there anything in between the reverse position of the CVT and the navi which will give the signal to the camera's power pins or some additional wiring shall be installed?
There is something that tells the navi when islets in reverse, but I'm not sure what. It was the same setup in the Camry though. I don't think there is additional wiring. The camera I ordered can't get here fast enough. :/
Found this file in case if it will help to someone. And I have also ordered this camera Car Reverse Rear View Backup camera for Toyota Prius 2004-2009 with Night Vision | eBay however, the delivery is long. I hope it worth to wait....
