Things people say about your Prius C that make you ROLL your eyes at them...

There are two ways to deal with bullies. You can ignore them and hope they go away or you can fight them.

Fortunately, we're grown-ups now so when the bullies talk crap we can tell them what ignorant twats they are and have fun doing it.

 

I'm happy to see more Hummer or big SUV divers to fill up their gas tank because they get the money to pay the gas tax I don't have to pay that much.

A guy at work ask me if I was " 1/64 Cherokee ".

 

From a pickup driver where I work: "So how many chip monks you got under the hood of that thing?"

My reply: "Oh - I had to get rid of the chip monks. They died every time the electric motor kicked in. Now I use rats. The electric shock just makes them run faster. Must have altered their metabolism, too, cause I hardly ever have to feed them."

 

I don't have a c but the silliest remark I get with the v is that it is too quiet or doesn't sound like a car. I think that Toyota should add digital sound effects to make it sound like a hotrod or amusement ride at Disney.

 

When in EV mode, I can hear a Star Trek Shuttlecraft noise coming from it's little warning speaker.
It's very noticeable going into the garage, when the sound can bounce back at you..

Yeah, it might be a good idea to have it sound like an ICE, or maybe a chainsaw.?.

 

It seems to me, if you are going to warn (blind) pedestrians, you should make sound like a dangerous car.

The speed concern still comes up when I mention having a Prius.

Why do people think having an electric motor makes a vehicle slower, especially after over a decade of seeing them on the road?

I do roll my eyes. To think that they don't notice all the other vehicles... Prius stands out, so they remember. It makes me wonder what their thoughts are on those who drive aggressively, intentionally guzzling gas.

 

A Land Rover is one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road. I knew several people who every time they went to get their car serviced it was $2K. I also know someone who handles extended warranties for cars and he said that the reliability is so bad that they require extra money when taking on Land Rovers.

 

You could mention the Tesla Roadster, which does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. Tesla is funded by Elon Musk - he's also the guy behind Space-X, which just docked the first privately funded spacecraft at the Space Station.

 

Is the Space-X a hybrid or a plug-in???

 

Yep - electrics can be fast if designed for speed. A retired electrical engineer asked about the Prius response when floored. Said electric motors respond instantaneously when power is applied so the additional electric power boost to the ICE should be close to instantaneous too.

Don't they need liquid fuel to maneuver in space?

 

Strictly speaking, once in orbit the maneuvering uses liquid fuel while the solar panels power everything else, so it's an odd type of hybrid.

 

In the remake, the Steve McQueen character won't be passing an old VW Beetle in every scene.
This is the 21st Century, so it's going to be a Prius!
