Regrettably, the former, Tony, but there aren't a lot of local choices obviously. ;-)

I was finally able to get the correct information from a dealer.

The Prius C uses the PTR43-33010 oil filter. This oil filter was also used on the following Toyota vehicles:

    Toyota: Camry 1995 - 2009
    Toyota: Celica 1990 - 2005
    Toyota: Corolla 1985 - 2012
    Toyota: Echo 2000 - 2005
    Toyota: Highlander 2001 - 2007
    Toyota: Matrix 2003 - 2012
    Toyota: MR2 Spyder 1985 - 2005
    Toyota: Prius 2004 - 2009
    Toyota: RAV4 1996 - 2009
    Toyota: Solara 1999 - 2008
    Toyota: Yaris 2007 - 2012

It will probably be the same as the Yaris or Gen 2 Prius I would think.

seilerts said it all. But i will add that the smaller of the 4 cylinder Toyota motors that have an external filter will take the 90925-YZZF2 filters, also known as "F2" filters. There are also F1's that have the same diameter as the F2 but they are a little over an inch longer, which can filter more oil over the 10,000 mile oil change intervals IMO.

PTR43-33010 is a TRD filter. Twice as expensive as what you need to pay, with much lower availablility, and will be of NO benefit to you as a Prius driver. Use the F2 filter. Try the F1 if you like. Or use a Wix (51394).

My wife and I do all our own oil changes and filter changes
on our Prius. This way you know whats been done and you only have yourself to blame if something goes wrong.

We purchased a case of oil filters, 12 per case for about $4.00
each with the oil nut washer included. We also got a
case of 12 quarts of Toyota Oil 0w20 synthetic for
$5.50 per quart. About $26.00 for a complete oil change.

Every 10,000 miles for an oil change is something
that was unheard of back when I started driving
    in 1966.

If you want to buy a TRD filter, that is your choice, but it is completely unnecessary to spend that kind of money. You can get a Carquest 85394 for $3.50 for example.

GEDC2155.JPG View attachment 39259 The YZZF2 ( Denso ) is a very good filter for the money . Can be bought for under $4 , low as $3.50 ( before tax ) . Been using it for the '08 Yaris sedan (cousin of the "C " ) up to last weeks oil change . Now have a AC Delco PF1233 . That was under $4 through a GM dealer parts department . Have used these in past for an '99 and 2000 Prizm . No issues then . May get an U.O.A. to see how the filtration of the PF1233 compares to the F2 . Here's some recent used oil analysises for the '08 Yaris with Shell full synthetic 5w-20 ( 1st row ) and 5w-30 ( middle row ) . There's also one for Pennzoil conventional 5w-30 ( row to right ) . All are SN/GF-5 and with a F2 filter . A " C " or 1st / 2nd generation Prius should easily go 7,500 miles with the F2 and a 5w-20 . I find that 3 and 3/4 quarts bring it to the Full mark . The Yaris was bought new and did all but 1 of the O.C.s .
