When I bought my Prius C III, I found in the Trunk the following parts in a plastic cover. I asked the dealer about this, and nobody can answer that. Any idea what is this??
It could be a tool left behind by one of the Toyota workers who assembled the car. In the assembly line, workers sit in the trunk facing out and tweak stuff. Take a good whiff of it and tell me if it smells like hard-earned Japanese sweat.
I had the same parts and was wondering the same exact thing. Mine was wrapped and sealed in a dark blue plastic bag...looks like it was meant to be installed
The parts you found are the front wheel air dams. They come in a bag and are in the trunk at time of pdi. There is a left and right indicated by a L and R and 4 screws. They go in 2 holes on each side in front of the front wheels in the splash shields. Usually are put on during pre delivery inspection. Hope this helps
If they are the air dams for the front wheels, you need to have them installed. Else, your aerodynamics will be hurting on the highway and MPG won't be as high.
I found the same parts. The left one has the part # 53852-52180 I have temporarily misplaced the right one. I have found ONE place so far that identifies the part #. https://www.usatoyotaparts.com/index.php?i=2&type=parts&partnum=accept It identifies the part as ... pad, fr wheel opening. So it appears Yotabig&mini is correct. I'll try and find the holes and install tomorrow.
In the light of day, that is exactly what the parts are. Thank you very much for identifying them. The first photo shows the openings that the tabs slide into. (passenger side). Second photo shows installed driver side from front of car and the third shows installed part looking toward the front of vehicle.
