When you're gliding down a nice hill only to have that glide negated by the little boy you ran over.

If you ran him over then you should still be gliding. :p

You've worked hard to maintain a 59mpg average over the last 400miles and then you have to drive with your girlfriend or wife and she won't allow you to continue driving slow. :( Now I'm down to 57.2mpg.

That's when you stop at the next Toyota dealer and buy a Prius for her

    When you've achieved 4.5l/100km (62.8 mpg(UK) 52.5 mpg(US) 22.22 km/l) according to the HSI but somehow the tank FC calculates to be 4.9l/100km! (57.65 mpg(UK) 48.23 mpg(US) 20.41 km/l)
When winter starts early and you desperately try to maintain your summer FC, before giving up and putting on the heater.
When you fill up on E10 fruit cordial masquerading as 94 RON (almost) high octane to save a few cents per litre and your FC goes through the roof.
When 95 RON is 15¢ per litre more than 91 RON.
When the 95 RON has run out and the 98 RON is 19¢ per litre more than 91 RON.
When no-one you know has any idea what their FC is.
When no-one you know wants to hear your very interesting stories, hypotheses and top tips about improving their FC.

You need a GF like mine who never complains about me driving slow and tries to beat my mpg when she's driving. Partly because she's terminally thrifty and partly for environmental reasons. A week and a half ago she averaged 65mpg (on the HSD) on a trip to Boston, so I had to work hard to (barely) beat that on the trip back. However she does get a bit testy when I try to (gently) coach her.

And NO you can't have her!

The city I live in used to have crosswalk signs that had numbers that counted down to zero to show pedestrians how much time they had to cross. I was able to judge if I should speed up or start using regenerative braking to slow down.

Something happen and the city removed all the timers now it is just walk or no walk.

The Prius is my wifes car 90% of the time. When I finally drive
it I see the MPG guage at 51 mpg and I get it up to 55 mpg
than she drives it for a couple of days and its back down
    to 51 or 52 mpg.

Remember even our worst mpg tank is a dream in reference to mpg's for most
    people driving NORMAL cars...

I told she should buy one for herself next spring. I'd call it her 18th aniversary present ;)

My all time favorite is on a short 5-10 mile freeway commute, you're about to exit the offramp seemingly in perfect timing to gain back some of the mpg u lost & w/ no car in sight behind u for a mile when all of a sudden some numbnut streaks 3 lanes across to exit & tails right behind u to make u speed up & screws up your plan to glide slowly & gain back MPG:(.

Another favorite is when all the light seems to be randomly conspiring against u on some morning drives:D.

I had 3 glides get ruined today from something similar. I have a few rural roads were I can glide for all my tires are worth but all three of my favorite spots were ruined because I had someone behind me. :(

I used to have numb nuts ride my nice person when I was pulling flatbeds. The fix for that was to squeeze down on the fuel pedal while I grabbed a hold of the trailer brake arm and watched those assholes disappear in a cloud of tire smoke :pound: It'd only take a little smoke to make them hang WAY back :p
Man it was fun driving big truck :)

That sounds like you could have created some very dangerous situations.

I only smoked 'em when on two lane roads in the boonies. Never in traffic as that would cause a ruckus
