Flew out for a quick overnight trip and they asked for 30 dollars. The PIP is not on the list, but the Volt is.

I just dealt with them last week regarding this. Had to call management to get them to let me go through without paying. I've done this 4 times without paying. Just depends who you get at the gate.

I'm sure they will update the list to include the PiP, eventually.

That's a pretty big gamble for more than a day's worth of parking. Have they mentioned if they can add us to the list?

We all need to call them. This is what they have on the website :
    -----
    Electric Vehicle Parking

Free parking is available for electric vehicles only at charging stations located in the lower/arrivals level of Parking Structures 1 and 6 for up to a maximum of 30 days per visit.

No free parking privilege is available for Clean-fuel, Natural Gas-fueled and/or bi-fuel vehicles.

    ------

They don't have a list on the site. If the Volt is listed at the gate, then I can't see how they can deny the PiP.

I plan on pulling up the site on my ipad next time I go through.

"LAX Parking Management Office may be reached during normal business hours at (424) 646-7275 or via email at [email protected]"

I sent a polite email requesting that the PIP be added to the list, and mentioned that it's AT-PZEV, same as the Volt.

You could also try the "comment card" - there's a category for "overcharge": http://www.lawa.org/LAXParkingCC.aspx

I parked at garage 6 on Sunday night and picked up Monday night, normal cost $60, but paid zero as they accepted the PIP as an EV. Just took a few minutes for them to take my information etc.

So, did you end up paying....or did they eventually relent and let you through. If you paid, you should ask for a refund.

A refund will be harder to do once the money is in their pocket. I'm not quite familiar with the LAX ticketing system... But what's stopping anyone from gathering all tickets from friends and relatives and demanding a refund because they have a pip that isn't on the list.

Just got off of the phone with LAX and they are updating their list. I'll have it emailed to me shortly.

Instead of updating their list, why don't they just let every car with carpool stickers park for free?
Maintaining a list will be difficult since new cars will be added all the time. One thing they can do is use CVRP Eligible Vehicles as a list of cars which get free parking.

Just got the list and the PiP is not on it! Sent them an email back showing them the CVRP eligible vehicles. Let's see what they say.

Just got a phone call from the parking manager asking me to explain the PiP technology. He was under the impression that it was more Hybrid than Electric and different than the Volt. After 20 minutes of making a case for the PiP, he agreed to add it to the list.

Wow...so glad I read up on the technology before purchasing the car. It came in handy today. I'm extremely pleased that he took the time to understand the technology before making a final decision.

Glad to hear that. That's kind of what I did in my email to them as well, explaining how it is not a 'regular' Prius liftback but rather a Plug-in vehicle and explained how it is different from the Prius they have known about for 10+ years.

When you get the updated list WITH the PIP, can you let us know. I am traveling in a few weeks and plan on leaving the car there. Would like to keep a copy on the car in case I have any issues.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

Just a silly question: how do they know that you are parking at the charging station?

In general, you will get a card/ticket when you enter parking lot 1 or 6. It doesn't specify where you will park your PIP.
Where you quit the parking lot, you will show the card/ticket to person at the gate. They will wavier PIP driver's parking fee. Is it correct?
