Treasure Island, SF has three charging stations, and the parking spots are large enough that maybe five EVs can fit in.

Is there any way for another EV owner to tell that charging has been completed and the cord can be moved to their car? I'd prefer not to have to go back and move my car in order to free up the charger.

I've never seen a charging spot ICEd...because I've never seen a charging spot. None of the stores in Staten Island/Brooklyn/NJ have them. Oh, there are a few listed on chargepoint, but they are either private, or at at a car dealer, or otherwise inaccessible.

I park in a lot in Manhattan a few times a month (I don't have an EV yet) that has one, and the attendants has given me every excuse why I may not be able to use it. First they said the credit card unit was broken, then they said I had to call and reserve it first, and when I called the corporate office, they said it was free and all I had to do was ask the attendant to hook it up. So the next time I asked if I could use it, the attendant said I probably wouldn't be able to because they had a monthly parker that usually used it. OMG, whatelse?

No one in NYC is going to cooperate with your EV parking. It's not like the parking lots need your business. And can you imagine the tense situations at mall parking lots when people get angry over not being able to get a charge?

No, if I ever get an EV...no, when I get an EV, I figure I will charge it at home.

The EV Charging protocol card can get you towed if you are not careful. California Bill AB 475 allows for towing any car that is not connected to the charger.

If you allow someone to unplug your car you had better be sure that there is not a sign saying “Unauthorized vehicles not connected for electric charging purposes will be towed away at owner’s expense. Towed vehicles may be reclaimed at.."

You also need to be aware that the sign does not have to be posted at the same location as the chargers, it can be posted at the entrance to the parking facility.

That's only an issue for you Californians, so far. The other 49 states have no such laws, yet. And I for one hope this isn't one that gets copied... That was nice of GM to sponsor that bill, they should s**t or get off the pot, you are either for the future and EVs or you are not, they are cleary NOT. Over on MNL not many people have even seen those signs yet.

By my guesstimate, maybe half of the current PiPs are sold in California.

Today I saw three ticketed Car2Go cars in charging spots at Mission Valley Mall in San Diego (I snapped a photo of two of them). The tickets were for "parking overnight" in the mall parking lot, and they had been issued by the mall cops. Maybe enforcement like this will discourage abuse.

Just parked at Downtown Los Angeles Union Station for a recharge waiting for a friend. A lady pulls up next to me in her rust bucket. Told her they are EV spots. She replied "haven't gotten a ticket yet" [IMG]

"havn't gotten a ticket yet". I would have replied, "yeah great, hope some person with an EV can't get a charge, cause your sorry nice person is blocking the charger, and they key the crap out of your car" (which might be an improvement in this case)

I would report the unauthorized parked vehicle to the authorities.

Here's what was greeting me at the LA Live West Parking garage yesterday..... was on my last .5 miles and wanted to charge during a lunch meeting...... 3 cars (Buick, Mini and Mustang) hogging the Blink charger spots!

Emailed Blink and let them know that their bottom line is based on us folks being able to use their charging stations.... No one in sight to notify!

Many parking garages have a set of 4 of these, which allows ANY car to be safely moved.

Don't think it didn't cross my mind! I actually drove to another LA Live lot , the one that is directly under LA Live and found 2 charging spots with beautiful cones in front of them. I was able to back into the spots without having to move them! All was good!

rather than moving the car, i think a crowbar and "DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ICE AN EV SPOT!?" is what i'm going to do next time i see this. Sobchak style.
