I read that only 25% of Prius owners would buy a second one based on their experience with the first one. Mine is a 2010 but I'm certainly that I will buy a second one. I love my PRIUS.
i thought i read 41% of all hybrids? anywho, i just took delivery of my third prius in nine years. can't wait to see what's coming in 2016!
I just traded in my beloved 2005 on a brand new 2012. And chances are good I'll buy a third one when the wheels fall off of this one.
After experiencing the reliability and how little maintenance my Prius needed, I'm NEVER going back to a regular car. My next car will be a Prius or some other power-split-device-equipped hybrid.
This was discussed in another thread last week and it was referring to hybrids other than Prius. Many other non-Prius hybrids are not anywhere near as well made as a Prius and have left a sour taste in owners mouth's. That is where these article is pointing out is people buying another of these not made well "hybrids".
25% for Prius is NOT correct. It sounds like the source was from the "study" mentioned at http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-h...icle-owners-choose-purchase-hybrid-again.html and being discussed in numerous others threads. I probably would. If my Prius were totaled or stolen today or tomorrow, it'd almost certainly be replaced by a Gen 3 Prius or a '12 HyCam. Otherwise, I'm not looking for a new Prius until Gen 4 comes out.
I am on my second one but there probably won't be a third. This one has to many rattles and I haven't had good luck with Toyota's customer care. I'll keep this Prius for a while it drives great and it's a good car to have when gas prices are high. Next car may well be another hybrid but perhaps not a Toyota product.
My first one was a '10 and the dealer offered me an '11 on trade for $2000. So I traded for my second Prius. 6 months later I traded my '06 Tundra for another '11 Prius. I now have 1 in Blizzard White and 1 in Sandy Beach metallic. I can't ever imagine going backwards to a gas only car. It would be like going back to before computers and microwaves (and yes, I remember those days).
Given your avatar, it would suggest you would by a second car as a Prius v along with your old car, Jimbo.
Bought my first Prius C two weeks ago, and then just traded my 2010 Scion xB in for a 2012 Prius 3 yesterday. As long as Toyota sticks to good prices and quality and safety, the Prius will be what my kids will get when they start driving and we will probably "hand them down" and get new Prius over the years. So for the 15 yrs they been out, they have a good track record.
We're on our third Prius but still have our first as well. My brother bought our second and couldn't be happier. Once you own a Prius you're spoiled for life and can never go back to a car that only gets 24 mpg or so.
I can't drive more than one at a time, the wife has a company car that they pay gas for. (Nissan Xterra 18 MPG)
If something were to happen to my Prius any time soon I would replace it with another later model just like it. When I replace my Prius in a few years it will either be a PEHV or a BEV depending on where the proven technology is at the point in time. It could well be a Toyota or possibly a Ford, Nissan or even a GM if they get all of their issues worked out and the prices are reasonable. I would hope that a North American manufacturer would be a leader in one of the newer technologies by then. I would really like an EV but it depends on range and availability of a charging station network.
