Im getting a Prius C 3 with sunroof as I have no choice if I want it in the color I want, I want to know how the sunroofs are and are they worth it. I dont want to wait longer and so its more like im paying the extra money for the color than the sunroof, but as i think i kinda like the idea of a sunroof.

So i just want to know how are they are they cool, and how do you ride with your sunroof, I think you can have it like there is not sunroof, with it slide back but still closed and then open.

    Thanks,

Its going to be the worst 2 weeks waiting for the car to come in haha.

Sunroofs are great (when factory installed). I'm waiting for my c with sunroof to come in from the dealer. I specifically wanted the sunroof. On the car I owned before my current 04 Prius I had a sunroof. In warm weather you can leave it cracked to vent the car and when you get in a hot car and vent using the sunroof the car cools off more quickly than using A/C by pulling air in via the ventilation system. I found on the car with the sunroof that I used the air conditioning much less frequently helping to boost your mileage. Having the roof wide open on a nice day is also awesome. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Love my moonroof and would never order a car without one. I leave it vented (the MID actually warns you that it's open when you get out of the car. Took me a minute to figure out what the beeping was about!) to keep the interior temp down while parked. It also has a 3/4 default opening that keeps wind noise down on the highway. It can be fully extended if necessary. I did have a few drips in the high pressure car wash today but there is a duct on the shade to catch it.

Another use for the vent setting is to defog the windshield while driving without having to run the defroster. (which by default runs the AC).

does the moonroof option have the provision to tilt up in the back (raise the back edge of the glass about and inch or so) as well as slide straight back?

The moonroof is powered and can either tilt up or slide back. You will lose about 1/2 inch of head room but height on the front seat is adjustable. On hot days, there is no faster way to cool down the car. It warns you if you leave it open after powering off the car, but I wish it would auto close.

Someday I'll have a moonroof. Just too far out of my budget this time. Someday!

I always leave the moon roof cover open and love the glass overhead which feels more spacious and airy. I don't think when you leave the cover back you even lose any head room? Maybe when its closed?

You will love the moonroof especially being in SD! Its built very well and slides and works like a precision instrument. Leaving the moonroof open at all times alone just to have that open view makes it worth plus opening it and getting the open air is like icing on a car that gets 50+ MPG!

Not specific to the c, moon/sunroofs can often blind you on bright days and they cause the car interior to heat up. I love the solar roof on my Liftback but I find it much cooler (temp) to drive with the cover closed and I get blinded by the sun less. :) Just make sure you close the clever when you park or leave the glass open a bit to vent the extra heat.

I have not had this issue with the Moonroof but at times when the sun is in certain spots in the sky when its open I had an issue but its nice that I can just close it and open it when ever I need to.

I'm 6'2" and have plenty of room with the sunroof. Even when I have a hat on.

I would think that most of the noticeable head-room loss with the sunroof will be in the back seats.

Not really since the moonroof doesn't take up all that space. There's a carved out area for extra headroom in the rear so typically it's an inch that's lost in the front but only 0.1 or 0.2 inches in the back.

I'm a moonroof person so I do like that feature (and will take it if it's available/offered on a car I'm buying).

I like the extra light in the winter or on cloudy days. I also like it for ventilation (as I don't like winding the window down and having the wind blow in my face) so I would have it open (not tilt). I don't use the tilt function often but I'm finding more reasons to do so (esp. if it's cooler outside so it's too cold to have it fully open but just right if I tilt it open, like it is now in April where it's still 41°F during the day but the sun is strong and warm when it's shining on you).

Although I haven't even received my C yet, I live in probably the warmest area in Canada where it can get well over 90 and sometimes over 100 in the summer and I always get the sunroofs. They work great, particularly in dry rather than humid areas.
