Just picked mine up tonight. Very happy! More pics to come when it's daylight tomorrow. Feel free to number me, haha. Looking forward to being part of the community.
I'm really starting to fall for those metal lower rocker moldings. Are they the ones offered at the Priuschat shop?
dustoff: I didn't know you can request numbers...can I request #128 - not that it really matters. Nice to meet you btw. I'm from Honolulu. I requested no front license plates from my dealership but got denied! I think the car looks so much better with no front plates especially with the new 2012 bumper design.
Wow they won't allow you to have the car without a front plate mount? I told my dealer that the deal was off if the car has the front bumper drilled and a mount installed. Mike
Yea, pretty messed up that they drilled four fricken holes into my front bumper. I was pretty adamant about the front bracket but the dealership truly had their hands tied. Hawaii has strange laws include "safety check" for all vehicles registered in Hawaii. One of the requirements is the front license plate being there, and the dealership didn't want to be held responsible for backlash even though I told them I would be 100% responsible for deciding not to mount the plates. This the only part of the deal I didn't like and I still think about it today. Oh well, what can you do.
Everything is from the dealer, original Toyota parts. Someone thought the lower molding was black and, on the Blizzard Pearl, a carbon black version would look outstanding. I'm going to talk to the Toyota body shop about doing it.
Time to get the front license plate requirement dropped at a Federal level. It will save each state plenty of money not having to make two plates and registration decals. There are a few states that have no front license plate requirement so no reason all 50 states can't be the same. If you search around there is a company that makes hole plugs that are painted in the factory color codes so you can take it off if you can get away with it They don't cost that much and do look decent. I don't know off hand the link or I'd post it. Mike
I understand the Lower Door Molding is made out of plastic. Is there such a thing as chrome plated plastic or is that some sort of molding process when a part is made? Mike
Sure is purdy. Where did you get the side body moldings? On the priuschat shop they look shaped different, yours look more elegant... did you have those and the lower rocker moldings professional installed, or do it yourself?
Try this nest of vipers. http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-prius-plug-in/106585-my-new-pip-rav4-side-molding.html I bought both upper and lower from dealer who installed them.
Aloha, I started numbering and then just kept going I have only had one request for a number so far I can switch you up if you want 128, no biggie. Where in HNL? You can PM me if you don't want to disclose you exact location. I would like to have a get together and Prius car cruise sometime, interested? I was able to get my last car without the front plate, then annually I would Velcro the plate on for the Safety Inspection and remove it right after. It is very hard to get it without the mounting bracket installed they do it at the port and front plates are required here. I have the two holes from the bracket and then another two from when the Idiot lot tech. at the dealer mounted the license plate frame with the dealer advertising plate on the front with screws that were an inch longer than they needed to be. I knew I had two but I wanted to cry when I saw the other two holes. Good luck with that one if it is not a federal requirement to have a front plate they probably won't enact legislation to take them away from the states who chose to have them. I think it could be a tenth amendment thing? Then if they do away with our front plates what will our cops aim their laser guns at? Here is the link for bumper plugs. Welcome
Cool, gonna get 'em! What do you think about the mudflaps? Generally, I thought they should only be installed if necessary, i.e. muddy environments, because I thought it would naturally create an airflow drag, effectively reducing mpg. Was yours more for look, or function? I'm ambivalent on them.
Mud flaps are necessity from my view. Keep stones from damaging the fenders and under door area. Keep the care cleaner. I don't think they have any detectable effect on MPG.
Aloha diamondou812 we had an opening at # 121, enjoy your ride. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
