I noticed as soon as the c is in motion the bluetooth menu is not accessible. I'm sure this is a safety measure, but this has become a huge inconvenience for us. A lot of the times my wife needs to switch from iPod to phone during the trip. Does anyone know of a way to disable the speed sensor or override it?
PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius Navigation Speed Lock Override [Prius Nav Override] - $80.00 Thats what you need. there are other threads that speak to it as well.
Weird. I have a Prius C3 and don't have that problem. I've even selected a stored destination in my nav, while driving.
Mine is a C1. Can anyone else confirm that C1 & C2 has this problem? The nav speed lock override won't really work since this the 1 and 2 doesn't have a nav.
May not be a solution, but I believe you can use your phone while in motion via voice recognition. I think I did so a few days ago...
I can use nav voice commands such as "find next Walmart" while the car is in motion, but I can't chose a poi from the nav screen manually.
Same problem here on C2. My iPhone was hooked up and need to switch it over to my husbands. While in motion we got the message "not available". Pulled over and we were able to change it. This seems strange to me as a safety feature since if I'm driving alone I would not be changing my Bluetooth?
I remember it working the first week and now it seems to not allow touch screen entries for simple functions, stating that it can't complete while in motion.
I have been experiencing the same issue. I have a prius C model 2, which comes with the basic non-touch screen, nonnavigation radio. i've had the car for ~4 months and the issue has been getting progressively worse. At first i could access any menus wether the car was in motion or not. Then about 2 weeks in I started getting the "not available" message randomly EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. The issue would pop up about every 3 days, then every 2 days, then every day, then multiple times a day. I reset the radio probably ~15 times with the initialize option in setup>bluetooth>initialize>all initialize and that did not effect the frequency of the issue. I am at the toyota dealer that i bought the car at right now and i will update this post with whatever they tell me.
I experience this on my CDN base model (C2 equivalent). Also experienced it on a rented Corolla in the US that has the identical stereo panel. But I am the only driver so as long as I pair my phone before I go into motion, I can initiate calls while in motion. However, what really messed me up was the time that my phone had a random reboot while in motion. Upon completion of the reboot there was no way to reconnect Bluetooth without coming to a stop first.
In this thread, only iPhone and iPad were mentioned by name; does this problem occur with Android and Windows devices as well? I have not had this problem; my c is 2 without touch screen (2014), and my phone is Android.
yes C2 locks bluetooth as well. I don't see it as a problem, since it is only for pairing new devices. If device was already paired up it will re-connect w/o any issues.
