Toyota to Correct Flaw In Prius Exhaust Systems

I'm sure our Prius v is one of the first 20k vees sold in the US (we took delivery 11/02/11). I wonder how I can find out whether ours is due for repair.

 

Are you talking about the standard V hatchback or the v wagon ?

 

When Toyota issues the TSB to the dealers, you can ask your dealers service department to look up whether your Prius V is covered or not.

I have a Prius v wagon. It went on sale 10/24/11 and we bought ours a week later. It was part of the first shipment, I believe. I assume the announcement is also for the Prius v wagon.

 

Aye, this is for the v wagon, not the lift back model.

 

Have any Prius vee owner received letter from Toyota for the fix yet?

Anybody try the toyota website using their VIN #, and find the campaign number? Below is the link to the website:

I just tried that site and got message, "There are no open Special Service Campaigns or Safety Recalls on your vehicle."

However, when I clicked on the "Safety/Newsroom" link which lists recalls and safety campaigns, nothing for the Prius v was listed there, either. Bottom line, I'm not sure this web site is up to date.

When we purchased our V today I asked the Dealership about this recall. They checked and claimed not to have any information regarding the issue.

 

This is the part that they are talking about,

 

Hmmm . . . When I bought my v from Stonecrest Toyota/Atlanta last week, I asked the service rep. to check if my vehicle was included in the recall. He did, found the info, and said it was not. Build date in early March.

 

Was at my Toyota dealership today, and they haven't heard any information about the recall at all.

Bye the way, my wife is getting a new Prius V 5 Red with bisque with extra package in a few weeks.

 

I just saw the first fixed exhaust system. It was on a YouTube video..

Hope yours doesn't sound like this.

Thanks for the numbers Monkey...woohoo, I'm in the clear, C30340xx. Next to Anchovies on a pizza going to a dealership is my other least favorite thing to do, unfortunately there's a visit in my future, I've got some brake caliper clanking over sharp bumps, can't wait to hear what the boneheads have to say about this one...there's another member here having the same issue fixed by his dealership, and there was a TSP up to 2011 models fixing the problem by adding a bushing to the upper caliper bolt, we'll see if it turns out to be the same problem...sorry to go off topic, just thought I'd mention it for all you v owners that might be having the same problem.

 

From Monkey's post, under Prius v (Canadian Vehicle only) it lists the VIN range C3000105 - C3079570. The vin you posted TruSound (C30340xx) is in that range, as is mine. I spent time searching for vin numbers associalted with this service campaign, but I could not find ANYTHING about in on any official Toyota site. It all gets referenced back to the WSJ article.

I would also love to know where Monkey's info comes from.

The VIN in range does not necessary mean it is included in the Service Campaign or Recall. The Japan website has these range:

ZVW40-3000102 - ZVW40-3009765
2011 February 4th - 2012 January 17th

ZVW41-3000101 - ZVW41-3079571
2011 February 4th - 2012 January 17th

If every VIN were included, it would be more than the 8000 in Japan that WSJ reported. So, please don't base on VIN range, the correct way is to check with your dealership or wait for the info. to be available.
