Lexus debuts 2013 ES including new 300h hybrid
Press release mentions they expect to get 40 mpg combined on the EPA test.

In case you've missed it, there are some more pics at 2013 Lexus ES Photo Gallery - Autoblog, but they're mixed in with non-hybrid ES pics.

I'm not a big fan of the tiny analog clock and I have mixed feelings about the interior and exterior styling. At least it's less conservative than the previous gen ESes...

Hope this doesn't suffer the same fate and poor sales as the HS 250h. IMHO, Toyota should've produced a hybrid ES all along...

depending on the price, ES300h can outsell all other Lexus hybrids, combined.
It is beautiful, inside and out, and thats coming from Lexus driver that would never ever buy old ES. Interior is full of leather and complete design is contemporary LS.

This will definitely outsell the HS250h. The question is whether it can be priced low enough to convince some would-be RXh buyers to go with a sedan instead. (not likely since they probably want the AWD capability).

I think SUV increased ground clearance & 'safety' preception of sitting up higher are concerns too. I think I read way less then 1/2 of the hybrid RX's purchased since late '05 were AWD. It took a bit of looking before we finally found our '06 AWD RX hybrid. My question now is ... who will have the 1st PHEV versiono ... hyhi or RX.

Fair enough, those do play into the choices (though in Canada, all RXhs are AWD).

My guess is the RX. That said, it'll be very pricey in Canada. The current RXh is $60-70,000 (and is the next step up after the Prius to get DRCC, PCS, APGS).

Excellent. An ES Hybrid is long overdue. There is likely already a huge market demand for it. From the pictures, I thought it was the GS. Can you tell the difference?

Why do you say that? Did you have a bad experience with an old Lexus?

not old Lexus, but previous ES model :).
It never looked/felt good enough for Lexus.

New ES changes that, looks every bit a Lexus as any other... Lexus :).
