Ya know, I really don't know if PiP is released to all states ... but I'll take a wild guess of ..

    800 US PiP sales/deliveries March 2012

IIRC, Erica said something like 2500 PiP preorders. Im thinking most of them will be delivered over the course of roughy 3 months (March-May). So if you break that down, youre in the ballpark with 800 in March.

Also, I think the PiP is only sold in 10 states this year?

I thought there were 4,000 orders nationwide. I don't know why or where I got those #'s, but I think I'm close. After all, even my last pre-order # was 3937 and that was Dec 13th, 2011.

Logically, there were not 50% cancellations in the USA so that would leave pretty close to 11,000 cars left in the USA to divvy amongst 14 states. Even if CA gets 1/4th the cars left for the rest of the 2012 calendar year, there are 200+ dealerships to divvy up approx 2500 cars amongst.

Far as your question goes, I personally haven't a clue how many PHEVs have been registered nationwide. I know what I have sold thru today, the 30th... and how many more pre-orders are coming... but I am a small microscopic bit of a corner of the USA!

Maybe Erica can find out. BTW: March 2012, for Toyota, really ends April 2 at 10pm. That's how they count things up.

AFAIK, california will get far more than 1/4 of those phvs. Nissan sold 60% of their US leafs in california, the volt without HOV sold 30% of their cars there in 2011.

What percent of your pre-orders will you be able to fufill this month?

If you are asking me how far I am thru my list, best to answer that after the month ends, right?

Those of us who reside in the far southwest corner of the 48 contiguous states know just exactly how far away we really are from the rest of the country...comes with the territory!

Just to put things into perspective, I came across an article that put the Chevy Volt's sales figure for the month of March at 2,289 and the Nissan Leaf at 579. I'd link to the article, but this site won't let me until I have 5 posts.

Lots more Toyota PIPs would probably have been sold by now if PIPs were sitting at dealer lots ready for the taking... There are plently people at my job who are interested in a PIP, expecially given the recent spike in gas prices along with the carpool/HOV lane access.

Since a PIP cannot be ordered at this time, I've referred some to the Chevy Volt as the Volt can be ordered with a speciall emissions package to qualify for carpool/HOV lane access, however, many still prefer a Toyota over a Chevy due to Toyota's reputation for reliability and the exrta passenger space...

I'm so very glad that I signed up to pre-order the PIP!

    :high5:Oh what a feeling!:high5:
