I'm currently hunting for a Prius C-- and someone told me about the Costo Auto program. Has anyone purchased the Prius C through the program? Or know the discounted price? ty~~
i don't think Costco sells anything but domestic cars through their program.. also, with the high demand of the vehicle.. you're not likely to get any discounts.
The Costco program price will depend on local demand for the car. The discount (or lack thereof) will vary by where your store is. If a car is in high demand you won't save much if any money. You should end up with a fair price for the local market without getting slimed as heavily as you would if you walked in off the street.
My sister tried using Costco to buy her Corolla. The service she used was the one where Costco negotiates a price with a local dealer---idk if this is the same program that you're referring to, but they do work with imports. OP, I found out that negotiating prices yourself will give you a much better price than having Costco do it for you. Try contacting the Internet/fleet sales before even stepping foot on the lot.
I got $975 off msrp thru costco auto program with out the 'negotiating'.. Plus they give you $50 off toyota parts, labor or accessories.
Yes. Costco even helped me with my post-purchase issue with the dealer. I would say I had a better buying experience with the CAP than without it.
Congrats! I didn't even think of using Costco because in the past they did not list high demand vehicles such as the Prius c as an eligible vehicle on their selection list. I do think each Costco is different, though, and that what is available through their auto program is dependent on local dealers' willingness to participate.
first of all the costco program doesnt even apply to the prius right now, and definatly not a C the dealer just told said person above that was the program to make the sale, which is fine. Im a costco sales rep at our toyota dealership, love the service because it makes the whole proccess simply, sometimes though costco leaves money on the table. it depends on the car and availability. At my dealership the C's are leaving at sticker before I can even get them in stock. I would advise those interested to find a dealer that has many in stock if you want any discount.
That is a good deal for the C. My sister got a similar discount for a Corolla. But we negotiated a better price. I think it does depend on model/demand.
would it be worth getting a costco membership to see what the prices would be like through the auto program??
Costco and BJS program for CT did nothing for the cost of the car as they are selling at MSRP. That may change over time, i was able to save by using costco program on my last car.
I am up in western washington and ordered my "c" with the costco plan, which was 550 over invoice. My closer toyota would not match it...telling me that they could sell them at msrp... I said no problem, and drove 20 miles further. You can go on costco.com and see what they will do in your area.
Maybe it depends on the location. I am in South Florida and I called Costco to see if there was a discount on the Prius C. I contacted the Prius dealer in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach and all of them said that there was not a significant discount on the Prius C being that it is a new car. The best deal I received was in Miami and the dealer stated that they would take off the $699 dealer fee. I called the dealer near work (which is not affiliated with Costco) and they offered to sell the car to me at MSRP minus the dealer fee. In other words for the Prius C Costco was unable to provide a significant discount.
you go to the costco website and fill out the info on the auto program. it will then come up with the names of the dealers that participate in the program.
I just bought one in San Diego from Frank Toyota, through the Costco program for those who dont know about the program, you go online look for the car you are looking at and say locate a dealer Costco choices the dealer from the area that offers the best prices to members. They call you and you set up an appointment. Most cars are invoice or invoice plus some change. I got my prius c for invoice plus $250 I saved near $1000 for it. Now i have to wait for my black Prius C 3 to come off the boat and to the dealership should be 2 weeks. But the Costco program is a great program.
