I picked up a friend at the international terminal at SFO - they had 2 chargers right next to the walkway between the garage (hourly parking) and the walkway to the terminal (probably more on other levels). This was pretty much the closest you can park to the terminal, so it was a great perk. Charging was free, but of course parking is not. The annoyance with a PIP - the cable had to be slung over the hood or the roof to reach the plug. Since it's diagonal parking in a cramped garage, there was no way to back in.
Call ChargePoint... 1-888-758-4389 They would appreciate feedback about poor implementation and pass on a suggestion to the owner, like making some space for perpendicular parking in those spots. Keed in mind that most owners have the hope of expanding later (adding more stations), since the initial wiring investment is very expensive. So, they'll probably be rather receptive to complaints from users. .
