I noticed in the TV listings that our local PBS airing of Motorweek tomorrow includes a segment on the C. Upcoming/Past Shows | MotorWeek Written review here: 2012 Toyota Prius c | MotorWeek ron
only on 4, right? Just compare this biased and superficial "test" with this one: 2012 Toyota Prius c Road Test - Consumer Guide Automotive Jan :focus:
On 3/4. What exactly do you think made it biased? Motorweek's standard MO is the brief, video based "get to know the car" type review and are not extensive, in-depth comparisons. This one sounds like it may even be an "initial look" review too since it doesn't sound like they put it through their usual road/track routine. ron
OK, your point is well taken. It's not that biased. It's the reverse! The Prius C is 4 in. longer than the Yaris. A bit biased, no? What is foggy about the Prius C eCVT PSD? I actually wanted to make the point that the test from the Consumerr Guide Locomotive is in my opinion more to the point and informative. The Prius C undoubtedly is a landmark car, but compared to the rest of the field, it is average on some accounts. But that's just me... Jan
Did anyone notice that the Motorweek piece on the C lacked the usual in-house road test, and seemed phoned in? Are they only really interested in high end cars? Curious.
From my earlier post: After watching it it was apparent that it was more of a first look, introductory piece than their usual full test. Since they didn't even provide any actual mileage results, perhaps they only had a limited window to do this review and will revisit it in more detail at al later date. Because the C is more or less being touted as a commuter/daily driver type of car, it would seem like a really good candidate for their long term update testing where they keep a car for months and have their staffers rack up significant miles, reporting in at intervals to provide everyday feedback. As far as the thought that they are only interested in high end cars goes, I think it's safe to say that's not the case. They typically review all sorts of cars/vehicles from the cheapest to the most expensive. ron
Yeah but, in my observations, they seem to do a lot of "high end" vehicles. And, I would probably do that too....
Yeah, I'm sure their mix is not representative of the ratio out on the actual street. But I record and watch all the ep and there seems to be a ton of reviews I just skip on through when you count all the econo cars, trucks and sedans they cover. It does seem like they try to get something "hot" in there to keep interest up in most episodes though. ron
