As with the 2007 Prius, I wish when I let off the gas pedal that the PIP would Coast or Glide with No Power or No Regen. I know the slight regen is to make it feel like other cars, but I would rather Glide. I wish that if I'm in EV and I step on the Gas pedal enough to start the ICE, if I let off the gas pedal within 10 seconds, that the ICE would NOT go into Warmup mode. If I use the ICE a few times in 5 minutes, then go into ICE Warmup mode after the 3rd time. Accidential use of the ICE should not cause Warmup mode. I wish I could press a button and the PIP would dump the HSI and Trip data to a thumb drive. I'm now taking Photos of the displays and adding the data to Excel. I wish the Display Audio Car button would allow the viewing of the Tire Pressures. I wish the top glove compartment and the center storage both had removable shelves, like the 2007 Prius had. I wish 2 or 3 Homelink buttons were standard in the ceiling of the base model PIP. I wish the horns were upgraded at the factory. I wish I could add a additional battery pack whenever I need a few more EV miles, yet remove it when wanting better ICE mpg. I wish a Toyota Engineering Customer Advocate would read this Thread and comment on the suggestions. I love my Plug-In Prius, but we can always Dream.
I am waiting for a sea glass pearl PIP...please tell me that your wish list doesn't include getting a different color...do you like the color? My 2009 is Pine Mist. My dealer says the sea glass pearl is a little bit bluer. Do you know if it is? Thanks for any info.
I also wish for more battery capacity. Also, I wish they would: 1) get rid of the flying buttress 2) put all the controls back into the MFD 3) make SofTex an option 4) make beige an available interior color 5) get rid of the silver strips in front and back 6) go back to the 2004-2005 soft touch plastics 7) use the rims from the Liftback which has fewer spokes.
You mentioned you wished the base model had 2 or 3 homelink buttons on the ceiling. Does the base model have any homelink buttons anywhere?
My wish would be for a 'package' that had a greater EV range. Although another model would work as well.
I wish my personal range and endurance could match the Plug-in.... I'd also wish for a convenient place to mount a smartphone
OMG! YES! I am a person who really dislikes gray! I cannot understand why we couldn't have beige inside!!!
I got my sea glass pearl PIP last weekend and I couldn't be happier with the color. The color is chameleon. It was raining when I picked it up and the green color was very evident, several shades darker than pine mist. In the bright sunlight the blue comes out. It is very similar to the aqua color of our 2001 Gen I Prius. It's certainly a different color than the pine mist, but we are are very pleased with it.
I'd like to see a EV/HV button right on the steering wheel. I switch modes frequently enough on my commute where it gets annoying. There's even a blank button spot for it on the steering wheel.
Their is no homelink for the base model. I agree this should be a standard feature on every pip since the vast majority of them will probably be parked in garages. What were they thinking?
I would like to see a user-configurable maximum EV speed (up to the hardwired 62 mph). The EV/HV switch could override this (up to 62). That way I wouldn't have to think about switching to HV when entering the 55 mph freeway and back to EV at the off-ramp.
Yes please. The former would be cool. The latter violates the "level of interest must meet or exceed level of effort" rule. Cool idea. Even stack them like Legos in the trunk. Hear hear! I would add: I was very disappointed to learn that Lane Keep Assist disappears in the Plug-in. I wonder if there is a technical reason for that, but from here it seems pretty arbitrary. I'd also like the solar sunroof although I understand there's a conflict there with the advanced tech package.
I was disappointed too, until I read some on-line reviews and comments, which were mixed enough that I don't feel so bad about it any more. Still, I believe it is the only high-tech option omitted from the Advanced package, which seems a bit chintzy given the price. And we could always turn it off.
I chose Clearwater Blue Metallic and I was wondering if I made the right choice. I kept looking at pictures on the 'net and thinking I made a mistake. ...and then I saw it. Wow. I'm very very happy with it. Hopefully you'll have the same experience with the color you chose.
