Help!! Putting in an LED into the dome light (over the back seat area) and my smart key system as well as my interior lights do not work. I couldn't even turn on my head-lamps until I put smart key into dash-board and now I get head-lamps when manually turned on. The fuse for the smart key is good and the other items on that fuse all work. Can't sort out what fuse would tie the smart key system to the interior lamp system, but those 2 systems are not working. I undid the negative wire from the 12 volt battery in an attempt to 're-boot' the car, but still no luck. I'm about to go on a test drive to see if I can actually drive the car.... Again, I think I may have created a momentary short across the leads for the ceiling light bulb in the dome light as I was trying to install an LED with a festoon bulb adapter..... Thanks Cheers Mike
After my test drive, the "VSC" warning lamp is glowing on the dash-board....so no smart key, no stereo system, no interior lights and no VSC....... ....please pipe in if you think you know what it would be....... Thanks Cheers Mike
no clock...must use mechanical key to lock or unlock doors.... ...have I fried my "Body ECU"? I ask because looking at my Bentley's manual, all these items tie together at the "Body ECU". Scan Guage II does work, I get my 'numbers' on my test drive....and it says 'no codes' and 'no pending codes'. Help....
I checked EVERY single fuse in this car. No fuses are blown. no auto-dimming mirror no Home-Link no Smart Key no interior lights no exterior lights or headlights unless key fob in slot and power button pushed on no power locks via power lock button unless key fob in slot and power button pushed on no access thru rear hatch unless key fob in slot and power button pushed on no clock no stereo VSC warning when car is driven hybrid system works, AC works, electric steering works, multi-disply works
It is hard to believe that some fuses are not out, given so many systems are not working. I hope that you used an ohmmeter to verify each fuse is good - do not rely upon visual inspection. Also note that the car has a fuse box under the dashboard as well as the main relay/fuse box near the inverter. If you still do not find a fuse problem, then I suggest that you obtain the electrical wiring diagram for your car from techinfo.toyota.com Then start with a simple system like interior lights or the clock, and work from that system backwards towards the 12V battery until you find where 12V power is available. That will be the point where that particular problem resides. Good luck.
This is a fuse problem, regardless of the OP's comments to the contrary. Clear the short, if it still exists, and replace the bad fuse or fuses. Tom
100% correct. I rechecked the fuse I logically thought it should be, the 15 amp 'dome' with an ohmmeter and sure enough, it was blown...... Thanks folks, new fuse in and all is well in my world again
